Doggie

During my time in Maryland, I've had the good fortune to be kept company by my best friend's beagle, Toby. With a penchant for microwave popcorn, and a peculiar affinity for digging his way under blankets whenever the opportunity presents itself, Toby has quickly become my second best friend.

An image of MMO-Mistress It looks like he is waiting for some more popcorn. That is so cute. :)

An image of seismologist POPCORN!!!!

Beagles are great (a little neurotic sometimes), and I love how their little noses sniff out the most inane things. What -do- they smell?

An image of fourwingfive When Toby's human put a bag of popcorn in the microwave, Toby dashed in from the next room to position himself. I wasn't fast enough getting my camera out to catch him in the crouching position he held for the first 30 seconds.

An image of Stevie217 I did not like the book, "Marley and Me" at all, because I was appalled at how someone would get a breed of dog that needs lots of space and keep it in a cage in a basement in a city and thinking that it getting bloodied from trying to chew its way out was funny.

Now there is a REALLY funny book called, "What the Dog Did" by Emily Yoffee, that is so good I have bought at least seven copies to lend out and give away. It is about beagles, so maybe your friend has a copy, if not, find one to read. It is howling funny, but teaches a lot about dog breeds, dog history, and dog training.

I rarely watch movies, and the film you disparage was hardly on my list of must sees, but now I definitely know not to waste my time with it.

Thanks for the book recommendation. I note that Yoffe writes for Slate, and has published some chapters of the book there. Have you read J. Allen Boone's Kinship With All Life?
