My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm Dave, I love to read, love to listen, love to watch and love to learn.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working in retail and bored with it, learning about the world and loving it. Working my way towards a career in IT, because I find it easy and it will allow me to focus my attention and finances on the things I enjoy doing.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Explaining, understanding, interpreting, extrapolating. Other long, pretentious words that end in -ing (like boning and peeing)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
If they've met me before, how much weight I've lost. If not, my height usually.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Graphic novels are a particular favourite, especially the works of Alan Moore and Daniel Clowes. I also dig Y: The Last Man, 100 Bullets, The Sandman, Persepolis... as for regular wordy-word books, I don't read much fiction but I do like Jules Verne, Ernest Hemingway and Douglas Adams. Carl Sagan is one of my favourite people, and his books are excellent.

TV-wise I'm mostly about serialised drama (The Wire, The Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Dexter - although not so much recently) and single-camera comedy (ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, 30 Rock, Parks & Recreation, Community, Curb Your Enthusiasm).
Also if you have fallen head over heels in love with Orange is the New Black as much as I have then we should probably call the registry office now and get us booked in immediately.

Tom Waits, Ulver, Arcade Fire, Marina & the Diamonds, Shiina Ringo, Iron & Wine, John Coltrane, Joanna Newsom, Smashing Pumpkins, Charles Mingus... and so on. I could talk about music I love for days.

Ikiru, Up, Amelie, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Oldboy... honestly, we could be here all week with this.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Science, music, cinema, the written word, air + water. Yeah, I could just eat the books I guess.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Everything! And nothing. But mostly everything.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Drinking Scotch and reading. But I enjoy the outdoors, I love fraternising and making connections, and I'd love to spend more time doing that.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
In July 2012 I weighed 144kg. As of May 2013 I am down to 102kg and still working hard. Fitness and health has become a big part of my life in this past year and I am intent on reaching a level where I both look good and feel good. I'd love to meet others who are making or have made a similar journey, or for whom fitness is a part of their lives.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You think sarcasm is the highest form of wit. You like conversations about more than Ben Cousins and Schapelle Corby. You like the world, and find the people in it to be its most interesting facet.
