My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a bit of a goofball. I spend a lot of time being serious and responsible between work and school so I enjoy cutting loose when I have the chance.

Being healthy and active are important to me as are my favorite food and drink. Running or hiking 10+ miles on a Saturday isn't foreign to me but neither is following that up with a burger and a couple of beers. Moderation is silly. Balance, on the other hand, is crucial. If you have any idea what I'm talking about, we'll probably get along.

Like almost everybody else on here, I love to travel. I get a little restless when I haven't left the metro area for a few weeks and even more so when I haven't left the country in awhile.

The most frustrating thing about being a first year teacher is that I don't have as much time to read for pleasure. I usually go from one book to another, sometimes read more than one at a time. It's always been a way to relieve stress or unplug for a bit and I just don't have the time to do that right now.

When I do have free time, I want to be outside doing something: hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, or rock climbing. I went to the Red River Gorge in Kentucky a couple years ago and climbed for the first time. That hooked me. Most of the trips I take incorporate one or more of the above.

I think that's it for now. If you want to know more, ask.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Trying to maintain some balance as a first year special education teacher. Most days I'm convinced that middle schoolers are total buttheads, but every now and then they prove that theory wrong. I'm finally on a professional path that I really care about and that's super exciting for me.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Changing a flat on my bike, cooking without a recipe, and forgetting that my sunglasses are on my head.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm not sure if they're the first thing that gets noticed, but people often comment on my chicken legs.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Right now, figuring out why my 7th and 8th graders read on a 2nd grade reading level consumes a lot of my brain power, but I try to break it up by planning what/where my next adventure will be.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I usually just see where I'm at 5pm on a Friday. Possibilities include trying new restaurants, hitting up concerts or the E Street Cinema, cooking dinner with friends or getting out of the city for a weekend of hiking.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Birds freak me out. A lot.

You don't suffer separation anxiety when you get up from the couch, will eat just about anything (at least once), don't cringe when you here the word 'camping', can drink a whisky without a mixer, and are looking for a partner in crime.
