My self-summary
I am kind of a late bloomer, but I feel like I am finally coming into who I am supposed to be. I've done a little traveling and love to learn about other cultures. I love nature, mostly for its natural beauty. You should probably know that I'm not a serious hiker or outdoorsy person, but I do like to camp. I'm playful, genuine, and fairly non judgmental, but sometimes I call things as I see them. It's not that I intend to hurt people, it's just that I believe we all need to be challenged and called on our bullshit from time to time. I like when people challenge me to be my best, but do not criticize me into submission. I believe we can all learn from each other and life is the mother of all teachers. I like chivalry and sarcastic wit. I love to laugh! I get bored with superficial stuff and believe you should create a life with meaning. I don't believe so much in PC, but respect for peoples humanity is key. I don't understand people who believe they have it all figured out or there is one right way to do things. I think dogma prevents you from living and life is too short. People have told me I'm mysterious. I can be somewhat hard to get to know, but I think I'm worth it.
What I’m doing with my life
I just finished a BA in Liberal Arts with a Specialization in Expressive Therapies. I am waiting to see if I get into Grad school, so that I can become an Expressive Therapist. I'm also looking for a job within the human services/Expressive Therapies realm. It has taken a long time for me to find a focus with the amount of variety, creativity, and humanistic ideals that this career path provides me with, and I am very passionate about it.
I’m really good at
Getting distracted by things, being curious, daydreaming, being passionate about life, social justice, and love, procrastinating, impersonations, people watching, singing the wrong words to a song, communication, believing in and standing up for the underdog, being indecisive, but on a positive note-seeing all sides to the big picture, encouraging people to follow their dreams, never remembering movie lines, song titles, or albums, recognizing voices, listening, tuning into someone's emotions, being a friend.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm not sure how to answer this one. I think that am friendly, a little shy or quiet at first, and funny.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I like books that inspire and have an esoteric or spiritual moral to them. The Alchemist, by Paulo Quelo, The Art of Happiness by the Dalai Lama, The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. Things that change my perspective and open my mind attract me, but I'll read anything else that is imaginative and/or written well.

As far as movies go...nothing horror. I like foreign film and documentaries. I prefer offbeat, eclectic, sweet, and/or real over big hollywood stuff. I am not too bad of a snob about it though. I don't have a TV, but I still watch a lot of it, so lets see...I like Shameless, I think its on Showtime, just watched Enlightened with Laura Dern and that's a good one too. I also enjoy watching Taboo, Teen Mom(s) (yes that's right), and Outlaw Bikers.

Music: I love almost anything with strings, so Bluegrass, Americana Newgrass, Folk, singer songwriter stuff. I love the stories both in song writing and instrumental music. Sexy, soulful, passionate women singers make me hurt so good. I like Motown, soul, and oldies generation music, Funk, Roots Reggae, World. *Not to get all soap boxy on anyone but I often see that people don't like Rap and Hip Hop. I wonder if this is because you have not been exposed to Rap/Hip Hop that has a socially conscious or motivated message, is mixed well, or is just undeniably good. (not usually radio stuff). It's worth checking out Nas and Damien Marley: Distant Relatives, The Black Keys and various artists: Blakroc, and Gangstagrass: Lightning on the Strings Thunder on the Mic. Okay, bringing the train back around, anything that makes me feel solidarity, makes me understand life from someone else's eyes, something gritty, angsty, sad, classical, inventive, moving, energizing. I like people who are open when it comes to music. Please don't try to own it! Life is more interesting and rich with differences.

I love food! Some of my favorites are Indian, Mexican, Thai, Vietnamese, Ethiopian, Italian, French, etc. I am fairly health concious most of the time, but definitely can indulge with the best of them. I don't eat fast food and as far as American goes, I love fries, pizza, and especially breakfast foods. I also love candy, dark chocolate in particular.
The six things I could never do without
Here's where my indecision kicks in. Alright, once I've excluded some obvious things like water, sleep, art, family, and for practical purposes money, I would say in no particular order, laughter, music, natural and wide open beauty, spontaneity, connection, and dogs.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to be of service in a conscious and loving way within the world, stuff I can't control, ego versus spirit, whether humans are more than evolving animals, and why animals get a bum rap, how technology, celebrity, greed, industry, and politics have merged into one gigantic sort of kingdom in this culture and beyond, why so many people live with blinders on, loneliness as part of the human experience
On a typical Friday night I am
I can be out with friends at a restaurant, bar, or live music venue. I can also be at home writing, making something, or watching a movie and eating comfort food.

You are looking to date, like intellectual stimulation, your values include freedom of expression, you are respectful, even chivalrous, you find my profile interesting, you are not in a wandering, footloose and fancy free period, and have never been told you are too ambiguous, a misogynist, emotionally unavailable, an elitist or snob, unless you are willing to show the real you and get to know a down to earth girl like me.
