My self-summary Propose an edit
I'm a friendly, a sci-fi/fantasy-geek and an admin assistant.
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
Hanging with my geek buddies, either every Saturday at various club
meeetups or every Tuesday at 6 pm at Crepeville (18th & L St.)
downtown for boardgame/cardgame night. My various geek
interests/meetups can be found here: www.sacramentogeeks.com or
www.fantasticfrontiers.com; I'm the webmaster of those sites. Plus
I've been hanging out a bit more with the Singles Adventures Meetup
lately, it's a nice group. Most of the meetups involved DVD viewing
or house party or just hanging out at a restaurant or someone's
place.
I'm really good at Propose an edit
I'm a great admin: I love helping people and working with people,
I'm good with computers and software (or at least better than most
of my co-workers which is all that's required to assist them), good
at problem solving and multi-tasking on the job.
I'm good at getting geeks together to share common interests and
find fun stuff to do.
I've been told that I'm a good lover, but of course that's going to
depend on compatibility etc.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
I don't think I make a good first impression just in terms of
looks. I'm only 4'11 and overweight (I could stand to lose maybe 30
pounds -- I'm working on it), and I'm brunette, usually with thick
short hair, and wear glasses. But I have a nice face and my
cleveage gets compliments sometimes, and my brown hair is at least
thick and nice. Some people think a girl in glasses is cute. :) But
once people get to know me, they realize I'm friendly, fun,
intelligent and loving.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
Movies: Serenity, Princess Bride, Bicentennial Man, Star Wars,
40-Year-Old Virgin, Dude Where's My Car, Back to the Future, The
Secretary.
TV: Dexter, Firefly, Buffy, Angel, Pushing Daisies, Family Guy,
Heroes, Lost, Life, Star Trek, Bones.
Musicals: Wicked, Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog, Into the Woods,
Les Mis, Sweeny Todd, Prates of Penzance.
Books: Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett, Heinlein. These days I read
blogs and comics and online content too much and not enough books,
but I used to read a variety of sci-fi. Fave titles include
Handmaiden's Tale, Stranger in a Strange Land. Also enjoyed
McCaffrey's Dragon Riders of Pern series, and I actually understood
and ENJOYED studying Shakespeare in high school. :P
As you might notice, I tend to like anything thing with a wicked
sense of humor especially set in a sci-fi or fantasy setting.
Things with great, developing characters whom you want to follow,
intelligent writing and sharp wit.
Music: '80s rock and pop, classic rock, modern adult alternative
(empathasis on the "alternative" meaning I like some obscure
songs), but also humorous stuff: Weird Al and Warp 11 are faves.
Locally I like The Kimberly Trip, Ricky Berger and the
aforementioned Warp 11. I find angsty ballads by singers with
gorgeous voices to be a guilty pleasure as well; another guilty
pleasure is ELO.
Food: my weakness is chocolate, though lately I've been cutting it
out for my diet. I also really like sushi, pizza, Boba teas.
Games: Carcassone, Qwirkle, Quillotine, Ingenious, RummyKub, Fluxx,
and TransAmerica.
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit
ok other than the obvious (air, food, etc.), I must have friends in
my life, I love having a computer with internet access, and I don't
think I could happily go forever without chocolate, though I'm
proud of myself for resisting lately. :P I also need good
compatiable companionship -- I'd be miserable alone on an deserted
island. I'd say I also need sci-fi/fantasy content (movies/TV) but
I can get that on the aforementioned computer. :) Ok, so it's not a
clean and neat list of six, deal with it.
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
I consider myself a fairly philosophical person. Being polyamorous
(even if I'm not currently "practicing" it), I like to ponder the
nature of love, friendship, sex, emotions, etc. I like to look
these things objectively and logically. I am atheist, but I try not
to think about that too much: the idea of just ceasing to exist
after death, though I really feel it to be the true case, is scary.
So I try to really enjoy life and make the best of it while I can.
On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit
home watching TV or just kicking back. Friday nights are usually a
decompression day for me. I'm more likely to be going out Tuesdays,
Wedsnesday, Saturdays and Sundays. On those days I'm hanging with
my current boyfriend or going to geek meetups.
Update: I've recently begun to appreciate going out on a Friday,
even if it's just to dinner, because it makes the weekend feel
longer!
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
As I mentioned, I'm polyamorous (update: due to a current
relationship, I'm not currently practicing polyamory. While it's
still something I believe in, I'm refraining out of respect to my
current non-poly partner who means a lot to me). My parents and
co-workers don't know. If you don't know what polyamory is, do some
google/wiki searching. Or ask me. Though some in the poly community
do also swing, don't assume it's the same thing as swinging. It's
not. Literally, it means "many loves". Nor is it polygamy. Nor is
it the same for everyone. But it's great to live life without petty
jealousies.
