I am inquisitive, loyal, and happy.
My Self-Summary
OK, so I don't know why I'm here - really! Although, considering
all the personality tests and such, I'm not surprised, I have an
odd love for such things. Anyway, I started getting these e-mails
with people's profiles in them and figured that other people might
be getting things with my profile in them and if someone was
curious enough to want to read my profile, well, then I should be
nice enough to give them something to read. So here it is,
enjoy.
Oh, and just for the record, I don't mind a little chat or friendly
e-mail, but see the thing above? Yes, that thing way at the top
that says "Seeing Someone"? Well, by "Seeing Someone" I mean I'm in
a committed relationship (a year and a half), which does mean
something to me. When I say I'm not available, it means I'm not
available, even for just a drink. When I say I'm taken, there's not
a chance for you to "retake" me. Sorry.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to figure it all out. I have a job, which I used to love,
but is getting a little old at this point. I just accepted a new
job, and will for the first time in my career have no
commute!
In the meantime, I keep myself plenty busy. I volunteer with a
local community theatre. A lot of what I do is behind the scenes
stuff: producing shows and fund raising. I'm taking a stab at
directing this season, should be an interesting experience.
I also play with a local orchestra.
And I'm learning lots about kitchen remodeling these days.
The first things people usually notice about me
My laugh. I laugh and giggle constantly, it's like a reflex.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
These change depending on my mood, how good or bad traffic was
coming home today, phase of the moon, and how the Maryland
basketball team is shaping up this year. So, rather than constantly
change it, which I'm too busy and lazy to do, here are just a few
of my more recent favorites.
a. Most of my reading is plays. Well, when you both volunteer and
work at the theatre, it's what's around. Plus, they tend to be more
interesting than the technical books in my office. More recent
plays I've picked up include Six Degrees of Separation and A Few
Good Men - both excellent. The most recent novel I've read was
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. On my night stand I have
don't know much about Mythology and Don't Know Much about the
Universe - both fun and interesting reads.
b. A few years ago I joined Netflix, and decided that I was going
to watch all of the film on the AFI's 100 Greatest Movie list.
After all, lots of classics out there I hadn't seen, and thought
this would be a nice list to start with. Well, I was making pretty
good progress - and then - they updated the list! They added over
20 new films! Which of course meant that they removed over 20 films
- a number of which I had seen! So when I added the new films, by
Netfilx queue virtually exploded. I'm never going to finish
watching these.
So back to favorites - all time is Gone With the Wind. Other favs
include On the Waterfront, The Star Wars Trilogy (the first one),
Doctor Zhavigo, and The Shawshank Redemption. The best movies I saw
in a theatre this summer were Ocean's 12 and Waitress.
c. I go through phases with music. I adore Casey Stratton and am
shocked that he has managed to put out two full albums this year
and I haven't gotten around to buying either of them. Other than
that, right now my CD case has a mix including Beethoven, Peter
Cincotti, 3 Doors Down, Opera Babes, Michael Buble, and Forbidden
Broadway. Having been forced to stomach hours upon hours of country
music growing up (I don't care for most country, and yet, have seen
Diamond Rio in concert about 4 or 5 times), I can at least tolerate
any form of music I don't particularly like, but I'll listen to
most stuff.
d. I'm generally partial to cheese danishes, French onion soup, and
chicken Parmesan. I firmly believe that cheese is the reason God
gave us bacteria. You also can't go wrong with a nice piece of
chocolate or homemade toffee for when that sweet tooth acts up.
The six things I could never do without
Oh wow - we get 6 items to choose from!
Ok, let's just make all the essentials #1 (that covers air, food,
water, shelter, clothing, etc) because it just doesn't seem right
to leave this type of stuff out.
My small but growing music collection, and my violin. Ok, right now
I could do without the whole collection, so long as I can keep all
my Casey Stratton CDs.
The theatre, whether it's being the local group I'm involved in, or
seeing a show at the regional theatre I used to work for.
My cozy green knit blanket. :)
I've grown very attached to my cable modem. Please don't tell my
boss, I like him to think that I'm not really a geek.
Good friends to share it all with. Well, except the blanket. It's
not that big of a blanket. Sorry.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Is it worth the cost to get my old violin fixed? Will it make that
much of a difference?
That miserable job I had for only 5 weeks, I don't really need to
put that on my resume do I?
Can the Mets make the playoffs next year, and will I make it the
Shea Stadium before they tear it down?
Are granite countertops really worth the cost?
Do I have clean blacks for this weekend?
How interesting are the Lady Terp basketballs going to be when the
coach is 8 months pregnant?
Should I suck it up and take the XP test just so I can say I have
an MCP?
Do I want to go to Mexico, or Bermuda for vacation next year?
If I start now, do I have enough time to crochet the blanket for my
Mom for Christmas?
And just what exactly are my neighbors doing up there? Potato sack
races?
On a typical Friday night I am
Dressed in black, lurking in the shadows, running tech for a
community theatre.
Or perhaps working, but if I'm working on a Friday night, I'm
working my fun job!
Or maybe coming down from a stressful week and getting ready for
the weekend.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
Well if I admitted it here, it wouldn't be private anymore, would
it?
You should message me if
I amuse you.
I don't check this e-mail or board that often, but if you care
enough to write, I will respond . . . eventually . . . maybe . . .
ok, I admit, I'm awful about answering e-mail here, message me at
your own risk.
Oh, and another note, not to be terrible picky, but I feel I've
given you enough to read to get a sense of who I am. Don't bother
to e-mail me or IM me if you can't extend the same courtesy. And if
you don't have the time to spell out simple words like "you" and
"are" I don't have time for you.
