Your Notes
Edit your notesI am goth-y, chivalrous, and geeky.
My Self-Summary
How does one summerise any person in a way that is both readable and informative? Well, I hope like this:
I am proud to be one of the good guys, a chivalrous gentleman who believes in treating women, and people in general, with respect. Old fashioned in a new fashioned way or possibly new fashioned in an old fashioned way, one or other. A sort of knight in battered armour is an image that works in my head.
I'm also a good listener and described by more than one person as cute. I can be ditzy, emotional and yet also pragmatic and logical. In short rather contradictory but in a consistent way :)
I try to keep cheerful about life's downs and enjoy life's ups. My sense of humour borders on the insane, some favourites being the Goon show, cartoons and the like. Bugs Bunny is by far the best :D
So what do I do with my spare time? Currently far too much DIY, mostly for other people. What can I say I like making life easier for the wonderful people I know :)
Currently teaching myself programming and for fun I play role play games (e.g. Dungeons & Dragons (AKA D&D) and other RPGs), computer games, draw, build radio control boats, robotics, LEGO and looking to get in to LARPing. Yes I am a gamer geek and proud!
Ok so the readability isn't too hot so far but I actually putting stuff in here. That's got to be worth something? Yeah?
Other stuff I do: read science fiction, fantasy and Victorian fiction; plus also watch movies of the above types. I also write the aforementioned fiction types as well as creating new games based in those styles.
One day I may grow up but until then I'm having fun :)
Is it me or do some of the Matching questions need a little more explaining in them? Some of them could be essay answers instead of tick the box! Ah, the troubles of boiling down the complexities of life to but a few options.
I am who I am, and if that means that I occasionally blather incoherently, I can only blame it on being a Gemini. That and having a ferret for my totem animal ;)
I'll leave this here for now, and look forward to hearing from others of my kind. Goth is good, geek is fantastic, and pink/unsuualy coloured hair is a particular 'fetish' of mine :)
I blame the last one on an old TV series called UFO ;)
Be happy, well and safe
What I’m doing with my life
And like all questions it is one that the answer evolves over time so maybe it would be better to say what am I doing with my life right now?
Being a Production Assistant and Assistant to the Producer for a film company (tis a small company and rather good fun).
Writing a novel or two (for the fun).
Improving my artistic skills.
Researching and number crunching many varied things (mostly for the novels)
Trying to work out the strange world of the human psyche. And continuing with my aim of making the world a better place (it's taking longer than originally anticipated yet progress is being made)
Practising the skills learnt during a medieval weapons training course. Yep, waving a sword around in the back garden.
I’m really good at
DIY: having helped people move, refurbished a house and various other projects can now put up a shelf by eye (though still use a spirit level) and all manner of other tasks with some proficiency (though for safety and best results usually spend a little time researching the problem first).
LEGO: yeah I heard about this growing up thing but having too much fun to bother ;)
Typos... Verbal ones too and-
Accidently coming up with new words in conversation.
Rifle shooting: yeah I know its not the most useful of skills, especially in the UK, but it's a thing I'm a natural at. Go figure *shrug*
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm not sure if people actually notice them but I seem to be able to lock eyes with someone at range, so end up locking straight into each others eyes whilst yards/metres apart. Not so good when driving. O_o
Oh and I've been occassionaly complimented on my backside. Not sure why but there it is.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Author/Books: Terry Pratchett, H G Wells, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Judge Dredd, Sherlock Holmes, tonnes more besides.
Films: V for Vendetta, Lord of the Rings, Matrix (first is easily the best), Pirates of the Carribean (aaar!), The Bill & Ted films (Excellent!), Alien and Aliens, Blazing Saddles, Space Balls, Where Eagles Dare, Star Wars (the originals).
Music: Film scores, Nightwish (I swear the song's 'Fishmaster'...), Abney Park, classical (some), Rammstein, Medieval Babes and numerous other bits and pieces in a rather eclectic way
Television: NCIS, CSI, Doctor Who and Torchwood, Red Dwarf, Farscape, Babylon 5, Bugs Bunny! A variety of documentaries, always willing to learn something new.
Food: Chinese (oddly found that out after getting the nut allergy), this Japanese thing that I can't remeber the name of but is bloomin' great, a old fashioned decent Bacon butty
The six things I could never do without
Glasses (or contact lenses)
Piece of string (yes, seriously. Proves very handy, especially as a kitty distraction - or did until they nicked it)
The Internet (so much handy information and weirdness)
Adrenaline Needle (nut allergy)
A notepad (for recording ideas, remembering things, impromptu sketching- now replaced by a battered PDA)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Also tend to think about my writing, where the story is going and currently how to kill off a character I've grown to quite like. (Have cunningly given the death sentence to another character)
What to do in case of zombie or dinosaur attack. Zombie dinosaurs present even more challenges.
For the last few years been wondering how to make vampires and werewolves work in semi-realistic science fiction. Thermodynamics is a pain in the butt for a writer...
On a typical Friday night I am
Or not.
Usually at home these days though Saturday nights are more often busy.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
You should message me if
While 'winks' (or whatever they're called this week) are welcome a message is more welcome :)
