I am describing, myself, and with three words.

My Self-Summary

Where I'm coming from: my mother's womb, Texas, and a tragically idealistic perspective.

Things I like:
aesthetics, people, washing my world, jars, incense, old vine zin, theatre, film, architecture, authenticity, magical realism, phenomenology, unexpectedly pleasant things, tunnelvision, predatory wasps, being astonished, sentimentality, brutal honesty

My purposes on OKcupid are strictly platonic. I am new to town and thus am here to MEET people. Any (if any) relationship stuff continues AFTER meeting in the REAL world.

What I’m doing with my life

teaching middle schoolers

If you want a "skinny" on what I WANT to do with my life. You may speak to me in person... the argument is much more convincing when I have body language cues and intonation off which to work.

Here is a clue to paraphrase the general idea...

"I want to study how to live well and campaign for the good life."

That's all I'm gonna say.

The first things people usually notice about me

um... you tell me.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I AND THOU, BARABBAS, A SEPARATE PEACE... a few other fictions and other books about the lost-art of this and that... books about deep environmentalism...

A TON OF MOVIES... epic/tragic themes, magical realism, indie sensibilities, intimate and surprising performances, and excellent soundtracks will usually do the trick... I also have a strange and utterly unexplainable fascination with Godard... I think its because he's French and all those well versed in film should know about him. NOt to sure.

SUFJAN, GRIZZLY BEAR, HERE WE GO MAGIC, SIGUR ROS, LCD SOUNDSYSTEM, CUT COPY, APHEX TWIN, RADIOHEAD, ANDREW BIRD, JOANNA NEWSOM, JAMIROQUAI, THE BOOKS, OF MONTREAL, ANIMAL COLLECTIVE, VIVALDI, ARVO PART, PHILIP GLASS DAVE MATTHEWS BAND, BIBIO, BOARDS OF CANADA, FUJIYA & MIAGI, BILLY HOLIDAY, BENNY GOODMAN, FRANKMUSIK, TELEPOPMUSIK, NICE SNOBBY INDIE/CLASSICAL/JAZZ MUSIC

The six things I could never do without

Musique, phenomenological spaces, laughter, a pencil behind my ear, good film, other people
