My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I think I'm a nice person and I try to do good things. I'm helpful, friendly, kind and generous. I'm not looking for a clone of myself, but for someone who has enough in common to get along with and enough different to add variety.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Too much to properly fill this out right now; but I'll get to it in the fullness of time.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Well, I'm quite good at lots of things and suck at plenty of others :) But here's a list of some of the good:
I'm very skilled at restoring historic houses (though I'm taking a well-deserved break from that now); planning inviting landscapes and gardens (I have two green thumbs and a few green fingers); caring for animals (I've worked at a few wildlife rescue centers in South America which is so rewarding!); teaching children; helping people; taking interesting photos... Hmmm, there's much more to me that that, but it's enough for now.
Want the list of what I suck at? I'll bring that in a binder when we meet, hahaha!
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I think that it might be my eyes, which are quite blue.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: The Naked Ape, Ecology as Politics, and PG Wodehouse stories.... I like magazines and the New York Times, too.
Movies: Alfred Hitchcock, mysteries, foreign films, Woody Allen and lots more.
Shows: Flight of the Conchords, Harry and Paul, Absolutely Fabulous, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Arrested Development, Extras and nearly everything British. Plus Nature, Nova and cool PBS shows :)
Music: I like everything from reggae to early opera, rock to jazz, 1950's romantic Cuban to 1960's bossa novas, "normal" music to abstract, surreal things like Nina Hagen's Naturträne and Klaus Nomi's Cold Song (what category do they fit into?!?) With so much good music in the world, I'm not a fan of rap or modern country.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
-Plants and animals; nature in general, I love it! I don't have to be in it all the time, but love knowing it's out there and helping it to thrive.
-Music and art! I like both abstract and realistic art.. just depends on the mood and style.
-Good food. I love Thai food, Indian food, European food... Mmmmm! Man, I love food!! When I travel I seek out places that let me cook my own food. I'm no chef, but I like to cook.
-Public museums, libraries, parks, performance centers, schools, NPR, WORT and public TV... I really like the whole idea of "public", communal things... even bubblers (okay, water fountains), which I enjoy drinking from :) I'm definitely not a right-wing, 'privatize everything to make a profit' kind of guy. Public is GOOD!
-A pet to cuddle with.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Travel plans; other countries and cultures; politics; the meaning of life; whether little mice really have tea with little frogs under the canopy of a big mushroom during a gentle, spring rainfall (okay, not really... but it is a pleasant thought); what to make, garden or do next. There's gotta be more, but that's some of it. I like thinking.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Not out 'clubbing'.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm not always happy.
