My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I was born in rural Pennsylvania, but have lived in the city for 6 years. Sometimes I miss having a forest in my backyard.

I am a recovering roamer. Prior to settling in Philly, I travelled full time as a consultant, tried my hand at long distance hiking, and drifted around the country in my car.

Right now I live in a funky 3rd floor walkup in Fairmount with my old lady beagle. Weather permitting I try to use my bike as my primary mode of transportation.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I am software engineer. If you are into what I do it will sound awesome. If you aren't it will sound very boring.

I am big into online communities and collaborative creation. I am an active member of github, reddit, and stackoverflow(though I don't tweet for some reason).

I play a lot of obscure board games and so do all my friends.

Oh! I play pool seriously and competitively. I am an active member of the American Poolplayers Association. I organize teams for players of all skill levels. If you are in one of those "looking for friends" situations and you like to play pool you should definitely message me.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Pool(obviously.) I can touch type 90-100 words per minute. I have a mean ping pong game. I can walk very long distances(seriously ask my dog I drag her out for minimum of 2 miles every morning).

I've played guitar for 16 years. So I've sort of become that guy that has played guitar every day forever but never got good at it. So whatever I still like to play.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have a beard unless I don't then if you know me its that startling lack of beard that will catch your eye.

I read ... a lot. Fiction, Non-Fiction, reference I hit them all. I just threw down Crime and Punishment after 250 pages. Sorry Fyodr. My running list that I can remember 1776, Geek Sublime, Crime and Punishment, GEB, Chaos, and The Information.

Music? Super important that you like music, but chances are we'll never experience genre mesh. A guy can hope.
Jazz - Art Blakey, Oscar Peterson, Yusef Lateef.
Bass Legends - Larry Graham, Mingus, Stanley Clark.
Punk Rock - The Damned, Bad Religion, Bad Brains
Talking heads, Gang Of Four, Richard Hell, Bowie, Tom Waits, Magnetic Fields.... the list goes on and on.

Other than that I am pretty big into metal, hip/hop, folk, and country.

I am not a big TV person, but I am up to date on Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, and Boardwalk Empire. I also watch the Daily Show ... on a weekly basis.

In summary, I love Errol Morris documentaries and the last 3 movies I watched were Akira, Chronicle, and Jodorowsky's Dune
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Laptop, Pool Cue, Bike, Chromecast, Internet, one quality chef's knife.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How to overturn the antiquated ways most organizations are structured.

How vast space is and how our logarithmic sense of scale limits our ability to reason about it.

How you can add two clouds together and get one cloud.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I am week to week so this one is hard to pin down. I really like the idea of inviting a friend(s) to a sufficiently distant gastropub and riding my bike there for a beer and dinner.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I secretly hope to find someone on here who is 100% enemy. That and I enjoy schlocky 90's country music.
