I am loving, honest, and humorous.

My Self-Summary

I believe is being honest and open. I am recently divorced (July 23rd). After 18 years, I'm a little rusty with is comes to dating. I don't know where life is going to lead me but I am looking forward to the journey.

My 2 boys and God are the priorities in my life. I'm a transplanted Midwesterner (Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa) who has lived out here for 8 years and I love it. I love to laugh and make others laugh.

I'm not looking for someone to complete me, nor am I looking for someone to complete. I believe that we are all our own person and we should compliment each other. The differences are as import as the similarities. As long as we can enjoy and celebrate both life is good.

I love to play cards (spades, euchre, pinochle and most others) and board games (Risk, Monopoly, Scrabble). I enjoy video games as well (more old school style - not into the first person shooter games).

I tend to be a left leaning - independent thinker who can often see both sides of an argument but when I feel passionately about a topic I will defend it.

What I’m doing with my life

Besides work, I am very involved in my church and the local theater group. As often as my schedule allows, I enjoy acting. Then there are my 2 boys who are involved in a number of things as well so they keep me hopping.

I'm taking each day as it comes, trying to find the humor in life. Because let's face it, life is funny and if you can't laugh at some of it, something is wrong.

I really enjoy my work. It helps me pay my bills, keeps me sane and I work with a lot of great people.

I’m really good at

cooking (wish I had more time) and helping others (wish I could do more). I am also quite good with computers (always busy with this one). I was really good at golf at one time but I don't get out often enough anymore. I still love the game though.

Finding humor in life and making people laugh.

The first things people usually notice about me

I really don't know. There is nothing terribly distinguishing about me, but I have been told I have nice eyes.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books- most any science fiction, fantasy, some of the classics - the Outsiders, A Separate Peace, To Kill a Mockingbird. I really enjoy Asimov, Clarke, Piers Anthony, Roger Zelanzy, Mickey Zucker Reichart, David Eddings, Robert Lynn Aspirin, Robert Frost, Henry David Thoreau, James Joyce and Edgar Allan Poe.

Movies - Any movie with good acting and good writing. Nothing too sappy. Specific examples would be Ladyhawke, Excalibur, 2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwerk Orange, any Pixar movie (I love what they can do with computers). A good comedy (Stripes, Blazing Saddles, Monty Python) is always a winner. Several classics are including It's a Wonderful Life, Harvey, The Bells of St. Mary's.

Music - I grew up in the 80's so I like most 80's music, classic rock. I really like live blues or jazz. For the last few years my radio has been tuned to WAY-FM. Both of my boys also really like listening to Christian Music so that is a family focus.

Food - I'm a see food kind of guy. I see food I eat it. I really like to cook so anything home made is wonderful. I enjoy Mexican, Chinese, chicken, cheese (I did grow up in Wisconsin) and the occasional steak on the grill with potatoes and corn on the cob (also grilled).

The six things I could never do without

1. God my faith is keeping me strong.
2. Family and friends are keeping me sane.
3. A kitchen (or fire pit/grill) to keep me fat and sassy (ok not fat but I love to cook I get such a sense of accomplishment from cooking a good meal).
4. Humor to also keep me sane and in a jolly old mood
5. A Job to keep me out of trouble and help pay the bills
6. My computer to write, share and search.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I've been too busy to think lately. It's all been reaction. Now that things are settling down again, it's time to ponder the mysteries of life.

OK - not that deep but I do wonder these days if we are going to get an improved health insurance options - hopefully something that I can afford.

Where do I want to be in the next 2-3 years? (up until recently I didn't think further ahead than 2-3 hours - so this is big, being able to set goals further out)

On a typical Friday night I am

Usually spending it with my boys at home. Now that the weather is getting better will spend more of it outside. Occasionally you will find me singing Karaoke with a group of us from the Peninsula Players theater group.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I don't have many private things. - If you ask me. I will tell you. I believe honesty is the key to any friendship or relationship.

I secretly want to be the next food network star.

If you're waiting for me to message you, don't. While I have confidence that I am a great person to hang out with. I haven't asked anyone out on a date in over 20 years and I'm not sure I remember how or have the courage.

You should message me if

you're looking to someone to talk to, share experiences with, but not in a hurry. If you have any questions. I will answer. Honesty from the beginning is the only way to make things work be it friendship or more.

I'm always good for a laugh or two. So if you want to laugh or need to laugh, send me a message. I enjoy laughing with others, even if it is laughing at myself.
