I am provocative, pragmatic, and contraversial.

My Self-Summary

I am a very progressive and often provocative person. Sometimes, I have a tendency to be long-winded but i can also be quiet and observant. I'm also a good listener and have had many cry on my shoulder and share or just vent. I like to go see live bands, make music in my studio, and debate philosophical stuff. The profile name comes from a band that Bill and I were doing back in Atlanta back in 2004. I still might do some long distance stuff and resurrect it (I have a another collaboration and a solo item still evolving).

I'm really open minded (too open minded to be described by some... No matter, they wear their own chains). I've done volunteering for political and just for purely fun. Probably the safest to mention here would be DragonCon but maybe if I get to know ya there's definitely some more interesting items. ;-)

I have a degree in Chemistry BUT I've been doing IT work since 1993. I'm pretty analytical but I also have emotional intelligence. I'm pretty balanced and often get some humorous reactions to things I say about things I'm thinking about that go over someone's head (ooooo bubbles). I'm really down to earth and not conceited. I like to think of myself having a rather disarming and easy going personality. I don't make enemies and can get along with just about anybody from any background.

Whatever you think about astrology, I think a lot of descriptions of Aquarius have me pegged (yes, I am an Aquarian).

What I’m doing with my life

I've been working in academia FOREVER. I've also worked in the private sector and even done side ventures but I've stuck with academia for the most part. I am new to the St. Pete/Tampa area but I'm getting more in tune.

I'm trying to rebuild my network of friends here in Tampa/St. Pete. I miss my extended family in Atlanta so I go there from time to time but I'm branching out and looking for new adventures.

I do have a little one and I have regular visitation with so I'm always off limits during those days.

I’m really good at

coming up with a really good analysis for issues I may know little about. I'm really good at figuring things out and I work well with technology and improvising solutions to problems or repairs. I've often said the 'key' to my success is my gullibility thinking 'hmmm... yeah, I can figure that out'. Once I start something and see it's maybe a little more involved than I predicted, I figure it out anyway.

I'm also good with people and have both extroverted and introverted tendencies. I like to go out and be around my friends. I like that networked community that opens up new opportunities and adventures I thrive on. Yet, I'm also good at focus and can almost turn off all my other senses and do some amazing things with what I'm trying to do.

The first things people usually notice about me

my bedroom blue eyes and long eyelashes. I have a good sense of humour and that comes through pretty quickly.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Hmmm... I have a lot of political books but I'd say Corporation Nation by Charles Derber. It's kind of a political education for average people but it's very enlightening and has an effect when people read it. I have other stuff that is a lot more hardcore political but this one has had an effect and an impressions on others that intrigued me. I even discovered that my brother Dan had a copy of it in his vast collection after he died (it was a good book we had in common). I have a bunch of stuff but mostly non-fiction science and technology oriented books (I'm a developer so I consume this stuff).

Movies? I do have a taste for Sci Fi but I hate the idealised spoon fed stuff. I like a good drama that challenges you or at least is a provocative idea that keeps you thinking. I guess that is my usual tendencies. Good drama, provocative themes, flawed protagonists and antagonists and generally something that challenges me or it better be a comedy. I'm not going to list ones because I find my movie preferences follow my moods so there's no sense writing it out.

Music? Very eclectic.

My music background started with New Wave and then morphed into punk in 8th grade. Later in high school, I got turned on to some dark industrial some great goth electronic so I would say I'm rooted in punk industrial goth tastes. I I've continued my evolution of electronic tastes with preference for the darker, harder or glitchy (and experimental) feel.

So what kind of collection does this give me? Some really cool stuff you probably have never heard of but some great stuff people missed back in the 80's and 90's. Don't get me wrong, I'm not stagnated musically. I devour some of the new stuff and some of the old bands are still putting out some really great stuff! I've got ton's of Aphex Twin, Front Line Assembly and Skinny Puppy/Download/Ceven Key stuff. Have my old school goth and some of the still great new electro goth stuff. Too many to mention and you probably wouldn't know it anyway so just run some stuff by me and see what you've got and see how our collections intersect.

One word of warning, I'm not into mainstream music. It's cool if you do and I'm no snob. When I hear some event playing "80's" music, I usually assume it's the bad 80's music I was avoiding back in the 80's (funny that in the 90's, 80's music was the good stuff but in this decade, its all the radio play stuff that just sucked). But it's good but it seems to be the 'thing' these days so I'll ALWAYS ask for clarification on "which" 80's are you talking about.

Food? Yes, I'm addicted. I eat the stuff every day...

I enjoy cooking and it has a wonderful and gratifying effect on me. I make great pies (people LOVE my cheesecakes.... and I don't even like cheesecake). My mother (who is no longer with us.. like my father) always got accolades for her cheesecakes so I have to continue the work! (it's not too hard to talk me into making one).

The six things I could never do without

Family (especially my baby)
Friends (they keep me laughing and healthy)
Underground/Non-mainstream music
City (I'm a city person, I wither in the country, don't mind visiting but NOT living)
Loving (sex too but the more encompassing and meaningful kind)
Travelling (I haven't done as much since moving to FL but I'm still doing some)

women, my music, women, music, music and women

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Family, Algorithms, Friends, philosophy and politics and just strange and odd stuff too.

On a typical Friday night I am

I'm still getting used to Tampa so it's still coming together. I'm adapting to new dynamics in my life so I'm getting back in touch with my single interests. Tampa is a LOT different from Atlanta (I still call home) and it's hard to find the underworld of culture. I have Atl friends helping me connect (there's a LOT of Florida people in Atl).

I'm probably streaming DigitalGunfire.com on my Linux laptop if I haven't gone out (then I'm streaming future synthpop off di.fm from my smartphone in my car). Tampa radio is so nostalgic and boring I can't even bear it.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

right

You should message me if

If you want to meet a pretty cool guy and you think you can really handle it. I have tats and have a taste for counter-culture.
