My Self-Summary

My friend sent me a link to this article on OkTrends (the official blog of this site) about how a person's race affects whether they can elicit a response from someone they find attractive. You should read it. We all know it from our own observations, but there's something about seeing the data and how blatantly skewed it is that makes me sad.

So I've decided I'm going to buck the trend. I'm going to respond to anyone and everyone who messages me. It doesn't matter if you're black or white, Asian or Middle Eastern, guy or girl, gay or straight. I'm going to at least find out what kind of person you are and whether we have anything in common. You don't have to be attracted to me, nor I to you. Tell me who you are. Tell me what you like. Tell me I'm a dumbass for trying this. It doesn't matter. If you write to me, I will write back to you. I'm going to see how long it takes to hit 10000 messages.

Don't believe me? Send me a message and I'll tell you what number you are.

What I’m doing with my life

Right now, I'm doing this experiment...and I'm hoping you'll join me. Hit the message button. See what happens.

I’m really good at

Listening to other people.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books (and other reading material):
Crime and Punishment - I sometimes think the rules don't apply to me. Dostoyevsky thinks they do. He's probably right.
The Wall Street Journal - The commentary section is profound...except when Karl Rove is the author.

Movies:
Saving Private Ryan - Only the best war movie ever made.
Mulholland Drive - Did you get it? I had to watch it a few times. Okay, and I also had to read an online commentary.
The Secretary - There's someone for everyone.
Cloverfield - An alien monster rampage movie with a love story. How could you not like that?

Music:
Rilo Kiley - I can't get enough of Jenny Lewis.
Counting Crows - August and Everything After is one of the greatest albums of all time.
Pink Martini - Go see them live.
Indie/Folk/Misc Rock - The Submarines, Anya Marina, Meiko, Cold War Kids, The Ting Tings

Food:
Thai, Italian, Mexican, Korean, Indian

The six things I could never do without

1. The beach - Still looking for the perfect one.
2. The internet - How did we ever get by without it?
3. My drum set - It's electronic so my neighbors don't mind.
4. My DVR - I can't sit through commercials anymore.
5. My car - I was raised in SoCal, so you can't blame me. It gets good gas mileage, though.
6. In-N-Out - I didn't realize this until I went to school in New York.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Work. I'm not a workaholic, but I actually think my job is very interesting.

You should message me if

You want me to reply. Because I will.
