My self-summary
I'm optimistic and self-deprecating. I'm listening to music constantly. I like hypotheticals and conundrums. I'm not judgmental. I'm not a spiritual person (unless I'm looking through a telescope). I oscillate between beard and no beard. I'm a tall runner.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a programmer (and designer). I'm not a huge fan of the tech monoculture in SF, but despite all that, there are some really interesting and fun people to discover here. I am not an asshole, I promise.
I’m really good at
embarrassing myself, singing the wrong lyrics
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Anything by Vonnegut or Kerouac. I like David Foster Wallace's non-fiction (especially that one about cruise ships). David Sedaris (his voice, esp. that video of him reading excepts from 50 shades of gray), Jonathan Franzen, Neal Stephenson, Cormac McCarthy (cowboy philosophy, post apocalyptic survivalism). Nerd stuff like Brief History of Time, The Poincaré Conjecture (shape of the universe), Moonwalking with Einstein (building memory palaces). Just read Catcher in the Rye again. Also reading "My Age of Anxiety" and "S."

Movies: Eternal Sunshine, Being John Malkovich, Rushmore, Sneakers.

I listen to all kinds of music. I like to think I'm not a music snob.
Some bands I've been listening to lately: Warpaint, Damien Jurado, Mogwai, Bill Callahan, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Electrelane.
The six things I could never do without
Beer + shot specials, a good book, recurring lunch plans, diet coke, hugs, running shoes
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Post scarcity economics, what is actually happening when you smell something, what rhymes with orange
On a typical Friday night I am
at a bar or a show or with friends or home
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I ran a half marathon on mushrooms.

(And so I don't appear completely crazy, let me explain... I run half marathons a lot and this was a combo on my bucket list. I'm actually appropriately cynical when it comes to drug use. I don't do psychedelics very often but I think in the right context it can make you more grounded and aware, and I'm familiar enough with both mushrooms and endurance running to feel safe trying that. And I'm glad I did, it was a really awesome experience.)
