My self-summary
Wanna play?

Yeah. That's me with the ball.
The 'ball'.
In competitive game everyone knows 'it's all about the ball',
hence, 'be the ball!'
I don't play competitively anymore with rules, points, pushing, striving against angry sweaty strange men (yuck).
.........although I seem to be having a better time though.
Who would've thought?!
Recreation. Quite a concept.

There was a time for sure, when I was actually AFRAID of this thing called 'the ball'. That's right!
.........all of me, 6'2", athletic, driving down the field,
........(on my tippy toes)
Figure, this small inanimate object with no personality nor character ten times smaller than me, and I'm still intimidated......
'the ball' (if that's what you want to call it) was something to be protected from......

UNTIL ONE DAY!!!!!!

........my coach who had been continuously ridiculed by all of the parents for being 'too determined' and hard driving as if he were living out some begotten form of discipline that had been 'lacking in his childhood" (give me a break)
could not stomach my indifference anymore and shouted out from the sidelines rudely (but rather effectively),
" Colin!!"
"Get your ass up that field and score a goal!!!"

......all logic, rationale, hours, days, years of verbal explanation for why and how I should score my first goal placed aside,
I did this actual game get my first goal!

Despite the parents being impressed, they still continued to hate this coach but became more soft spoken in their criticisms. Thankfully, he was elected for every season of the next 20 years so that they could still have someone to scapegoat. : )
What I’m doing with my life
Designing group activities for disadvantaged populations in social services is how I've made my living for the past twenty years
(love helping others).

Currently, I run a soccer program in a center for children severely afflicted with autism. It is a challenging position where I have to serve each child for capability while constantly influencing and keeping them engaged. I also coach 'typical' kids soccer, and I model on the side. For the most part, I get paid to have fun. Very happy with my work.

Days off I'll run a few miles and play soccer under the blazing sun or single digit cold (some people have said that this is not fun) I guess that's why I'm the only one in the park.

Love to go to the pub usually on a quiet Sunday afternoon for a bacon cheeseburger and pint of Guinness, or two, or three,
or......anyway.
...........maybe with you next time? ; )
I’m really good at
Soccer: Juggling at least. Thought of competing as there are juggling contests around NYC. People sometimes approach me at the park complimenting my playing and ask what country in Europe I'm from. They're surprised when I tell them I'm originally from Long Island.
I guess Europeans are good 'jugglers'? : )

Singing: As part of the program I run I sing for the children. I think they may like the singing more than my coaching. (oh well)
I used to be a hopeless, hapless karaoke freak (and I mean FREAK) Guys came up to the stage asking if I would sing in their band (hey ma', look I'm a rock star!)
My friend ran shows around Manhattan. Ever do karaoke seven nights a week on weekly basis? I have!

Writing: Made quite an impact with some letters; in some cases more than I preferred.
Would rather write than type. It's more personal, intimate, and just feels so damn good!

Gaining confidence and reliability from others: Friends say they trust me beyond most persons in their life. I've had acquaintances say this as well, people I hardly know. Good thing I'm an honest guy!
The first things people usually notice about me
My sense of humor, state of empathy, gregariousness,
animated way of speaking, grammar usage, descriptive versing, objective judgment. (must have been a writer in a former life!)
I wind up listening more than talking as I find people interesting and I learn more from listening.
People in general tend to say A LOT when they realize you're truly listening. I have a very good memory. From experience I've learned the hard way that relaying back what they've told me, even if they remember what it is, is not always a good idea.
A friend once yelled at me"Why did you remember that?!"
I replied "You told me."
Their defense was "I didn't think you were listening!!"
(isn't that what you're supposed to do?) : )
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Guess I missed my 'call' for being and editor or something.
In the past fifteen years have had trouble reading books as they are grammatically incorrect. Anyone else out there find this?
Or is it just me? (again)
Lean much more toward old non-fiction books. 'Farther Reaches of Human Nature' by Abraham Maslow, Essays of Ralph Emerson, some David Thorough, 'No Man Is An Island' by Thomas Merton.
(I know! I'll take sappy with substance)
Not a fan of cinema. I threw my T.V. out twenty years ago. (good thing it didn't hit anybody)
........but my favorite movie was 'The Deer Hunter' (I think Robert De Niro is one of the all time bests). Al Pacino is also great. 'Serpico' I'd see again. 'The Boys from Brazil' 'French Connection'.......you're obviously picking up my genre!
I love classic rock. Know all of the words and play a mean air guitar. (any requests?)
I have a vivacious appetite.
I'll eat anything, and everything! (watch your fingers) : )
'Meat and potatoes' basically but will try all at least once. Drink a lot of water. Beer is dear.
The six things I could never do without
Food
Water
Shelter
Oxygen
Companionship
Seinfeld
I spend a lot of time thinking about
.........what I should think about.
On a typical Friday night I am
........howling at the moon.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Boxers, not briefs.

.......that's between you and I. ; )
(I suppose)
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 35–60
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For long-term dating
You should message me if
.....you are a non smoker, one man woman, sexually passionate, no later than twenty minutes, and want a sincere monogamous long term relationship.
.....oh yeah, and if you can fix a dual clutch transmission. (never mind)

I hold just so much stock in online profiles as all the things we say about ourselves are in comparison to personal experience and can only really be defined through time spent in each others company. (although I also won't answer any profiles with pictures of you polishing your chainsaw!)

I'm very unpretentious but know not to bring my soccer ball to dinner. (wouldn't want to make you jealous) : )
On our first date I hope you'll be with some strands of hair out of place, at least one wrinkle on your clothes, and unafraid to wipe the hamburger grease off your chin,
.......BECAUSE SO WILL I!!!
