My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
full disclosure right off the bat: I am single but i have a young son, toddler in fact, who is a big part of my life. he lives nearby with his mother and I see him very regularly. I'm crazy about him and he's literally the cutest kid who's ever lived. seriously, i'm not just a proud father. I've had tests done.

just throwing that out there right away 'cause for a lot of single ladies that's probably a dealbreaker. there that's done. i'm still a fun guy to hang out with and have a sense of humor that has been described as "very funny"
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
When I'm not working or spending time with my son I'm very often listening to music and/or making music with my bandmates. I play cello and guitar in a great band that's also a very serious passion of mine.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
spelling and grammar. people who don't respect, say, how apostrophes are supposed to be used, get on my nerves. just sayin' ok so maybe you noticed that i don't always capitalize when one's supposed to. that's different.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

i'm a hardcore listener to and watcher of music and movies that people call "indie." but not exclusively.

some of my very favorite movies are Being There (w/ Peter Sellers), The Decalogue (by Kieslowski), Wet Hot American Summer, Midnight Cowboy (gets me choked up every time) Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Fight Club. recently I loved The Social Network and Inception and Melancholia. I love movies by Jim Jarmusch and Wes Anderson and PT Anderson and David Lynch and the Coen brothers.

oh and I recently got heavily into Werner Herzog. I think I'm a little obsessed.

also I have an awesome cat named Stella. yes, because of my love of Streetcar. I really love Tennessee Williams.

some of my very favorite records of all time are:
my favorite Tom Waits record is Bone Machine ( no, i will not apologize for this, that's it)
Diamond Mine by King Creosote and Jon Hopkins
Songs for Beginners by Graham Nash
Blue by Joni Mitchell
The Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society,
...Aeroplane... by NMH
American Water by Silver Jews
Yellow House by Grizzly Bear
Mysterious Production of Eggs by Andrew Bird
XO by Elliott Smith
Tusk by Fleetwood Mac
Interpol's first album
Emergency & I by The Dismemberment Plan
The Boy with the Arab Strap by Belle and Sebastian
...and then nothing turned itself inside out by Yo La Tengo
Ghosts of the Great Highway by Sun Kil Moon
Featuring "Birds" by Quasi
Heartbreaker by Ryan Adams
Marquee Moon by Television
Cure for Pain by Morphine
The Soft Bulletin by The Flaming Lips
all four Pixies records (yes including trompe le monde)
the 2nd and 3rd albums by Wye Oak (i really think they are one of the most underappreciated bands working right now)

also I was very late to the game with LCD Soundsystem but now I'm kind of obsessed.

Lots of beautiful people I know make awesome music too and I try to support them a lot by going to see them play.

oh and i'm here:

They forgot to mention podcasts: Wait, Wait... This American Life, Radiolab, Comedy Bang Bang (the funniest podcast in the world) The Moth...

TV shows: breaking bad (of course) the young ones, fishing with John, kids in the hall, Spaced(bbc), the daily show, Pee Wee's Playhouse, MST3K

also I reeeeaaaally love to eat. all kinds of food. I even sometimes really enjoy foods that are vegetarian/vegan but I am certainly not either of those things and i'm sure i never will be. I loooove sushi and Indian food and avocados and a good burrito and a good Bacon cheeseburger and eggs Benedict and grilled salmon with a lemon dill sauce and cherry garcia... and that's just one meal, btw.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
my android phone. my (Shure, really high quality) earbud headphones. a good, sturdy, well made pair of shoes. my bike(at least in the warmer months).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
in their personals profiles so many people say they love hiking all the time. do they really? if so you'd think the woods would be like one big singles bar and they'd just bump into each other out there?

in The Rainbow Connection, why does kermit not count himself amongst the lovers and dreamers? I mean c'mon you're a frog singing about rainbows. own it.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I dream of someday having Carl Kassell's voice on my home answering machine

you know a good "how many____does it take to screw in a light bulb?" joke

we share a favorite album or two. at least a little bit of music taste overlap is nice. right? maybe not, i dunno. under favorite music, a lot of women on okc just write "i like everything!" really, you do? that's interesting. good for you.
