Hello everyone,

If you can tell me
what kind of poems these are,
you gain 10 cool points!

Patient, worldly guy
Friend of food, coffee, and art
offbeat humor. Yay.

03/05/13 UPDATE: Wow - I haven't updated in awhile...that's right, an update to tell you I haven't updated. Ponder that!

I am an easy guy to get along with. As far as my talents go, I am sort of a Renaissance man. Both my left and right brain work great, except when drinking. I'm an engineer by day, but I still keep up playing my violin. I'm not terribly athletic (okay, I'm not athletic at all), but I do take care of my health. In fact, I even play indoor soccer once a week to prevent total muscle atrophy!

I have been told that I am more mature than my years. Is that rare for a guy? Also, I can cook a meal without using a microwave...but I do still love my microwave!

I'm giving okcupid a go, since my job currently doesn't really allow me many opportunities to meet new people. Engineering - go figure.. we just kind of camp out in our cubicle caves until the project is done. Also, not being a student in Corvallis puts a huge damper on the whole social life thing.

I'd like to take a nice girl on a casual date. If things don't click, at least there will have been food/drink/movie/museumtour/artgallery/symphony/etc. gained!

I am intelligent, amiable, and multifaceted.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I recently graduated college, and I am now a full-time young professional working hard in a promising field. Although I like lazing around on my hammock, it does not mean that I intend to drift aimlessly through life, only to open my eyes 30 years later and look back with regret.

In my spare time, I have been known to travel to new places, because I love trying new things and opening my mind. Oh, and of course, did I mention all the new foods?

As far as the big picture, I do not know the details of what I want to do, but I know that I am heading in the right direction and making mostly right turns.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm an amateur violinist, but a pretty decent one.

I'm good at cooking. Belgian-style beef stew, roasted potatoes, and kale salad are some of the highlights. I love to cook!

I'm awful at sports that involve launching or catching projectiles. I'm much better at skiing/snowboarding...I've been told I'm a natural.

I am a good listener. I usually do more listening than talking.

I'm a calm person. It is relatively tough to get me riled up.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Hm. A lot of people have commented that I'm well-dressed in my work clothes.

I am a very easy person to get along with. I'm bad at making enemies.

Also, I am skinny. I think my tapeworm helps with that. Just kidding. My sedentary lifestyle seems to be taking its toll, though.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
books: Calvin and Hobbes, art books, books with more pictures than words.

movies: anything Pixar :) , a lot of Coen Brothers stuff, Spirited Away, Juno, Amelie, just to name a few. Movies that are funny in unconventional/creative ways. Planet Earth in HD. Anything that makes me think and stimulates my mind.

food: all food and any food. I do not discriminate against edibility. I love trying new foods!
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. coffee (nothing like an aromatic freshly French-pressed cup of it!)
2. my iPhone - an infinite number of maps that fits in my back pocket? Fuck yeah!
3. Learning from my mistakes.
4. earplugs
5. violin (unrelated to earplugs!)
6. caramelization. browning betters my food.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
what I am doing with my life...extended quarter-life crisis. what I should cook for dinner. if a tree falls in the forest, and nobody is around to hear it...
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
The same thing I do every Friday night...TRY TO TAKE OVER THE WORLLLLLD! But not all at once.. baby steps, baby steps.

The most likely alternative is probably kicking back at a bar with friends/coworkers, feeding Saturday's hangover. There are great microbrew beers to discover out there!

Sometimes I'll just take it easy. Beer and the internets or casual mindless games to let the mind wander. It's beautiful to have a "nothing" day every once in awhile.

And I may be sitting by a fire.

I'd like to go out to the symphony or some other live music one of these Friday nights, though.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I am 5'9" and 155 lbs (175 cm and 70 kg for those who are Metric-inclined). Really, between 5'8" and 5'10", depending on how high the doctor puts the height measurer thingy. And I bench press 98356 lbs. And one of those statements is a lie.

More private facts are reserved for email exchanges or coffee! However, I would advise AGAINST mixing the two. Pouring coffee into your computer rarely ends well.

...okay, I guess I can admit it....I don't eat enough fruit or leafy greens!

Smart is sexy. can juggle knives and flaming torches while dancing flamenco on a giant inflatable turtle going over Multnomah Falls...upside down...while whistling "Sheila sells seashells by the seashore"... mmm..just kidding on that one.
