My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Facts as stated, above and to the right. Except I'm more left of dial.

I am educated, well mannered, and three-legged. Take that, Cupid!

I like to people-watch on OKcupid, and read profiles. I'm open to meeting new people for friendship and casual dating but not looking to replace my girlfriend whom I met here.
But in the interest of full disclosure, if I checked out your profile it means your picture caught my eye ---either because it looks interesting or you look cute:-) Ain't no shame in the game, yo?
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
This might be a little odd, but let me explain. I'm here to find a few to start a household. It's the Bay Area (East Bay, specifically) and house hunting here requires good people. So, I'm turning to OKCupid to meet potential matches for living together. I live and work in Oakland, happily. I rent month to month which is fine but I want to create a "homegrown situation" (no, not a pot-farm).

I figure let's use this awesome matching function to find people who want to share living space and maybe some food. Not looking to form a cult, and no ambition to be anybody's boss or servant.
Just looking for a few people who can match money and get along enough to afford living in one of the most expensive housing markets in the world.

Why use OKCupid for this? Well, I don't do Facebook so this is my only Online profile I can use to broadcast myself. Plus, I really think OKC's compatibility algorithm is awesome. I've met friends old and new here, and yeah it really works.

To be clear, I am not looking for romance, sex or marriage. I know that's a little out-of-step for a dating site, but is it really a bad idea? If you really object, then send me a respectful message.
Before you flag me, please consider some people here are looking for "friends only". I myself have enjoyed OKC for 8+ years, and made great connections including my Girlfriend of 4 years (yes, she's still on OKC too).

Lastly, I promise I won't be re-directing a bunch of Craigslist traffic here; I will keep the OKC space only for people already logged-in.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Organizing common space, keeping the kitchen and bathroom reasonably clean and not gross. Recycling and composting.
Paying bills on time and communicating about business.
Respecting other peep's lifestyles and choices, keeping my own chin up. Sometimes talking, sometimes reading, sometimes being quiet.

Sharing food and music and all the things that make the days a little more enjoyable.

Keeping this list open and at the same time keeping it simple....
The first things people usually notice about me

I'm totally serious.

Nah, not really:-)

Oh, I look really good on paper and have better-than-good credit. These are good things for landlords.

The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen, Grapes of Wrath, Anything Vonnegut, Anything Antoine St. Exupery.
Yeah, I know... all-dead-white-dudes! But, the truth is I'm into non-fiction these days. I read lots of essay and journalism by writers of all stripes and genders.

Eraserhead. Woman in the Dunes. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Videodrome.
That's the kind of stuff I like, but I'm happy to go see whatever is playing with you. I love going out to the movies. Or kicking it on the couch.

I Love radio left-of-the-dial! KEXP, KALX, WFMU, KCRW, good ol' KUSF.
And internet radio, woo-woo!

I'm fortunate to have seen many of the above acts live! But on record: Prokofiev, E. Satie, Stravinsky, Shostakovich (had to spell check that last one).

Oh, and of course the Pixies, the Cure, Beatles, maybe Fleetwood Mac.... y'know, I just dig Music.

My favorite food is the kind I make for you or you make for me. I have a professional background in food, but in the end it's all about sharing honest homemade meals together.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I need to eat fresh fruit every day. But otherwise, I can deal without most things.

My pet tiger, he's 6 years old and stays on a ranch in S. California. Yes, it is legal to have a pet tiger if you have certain provisions. The keepers and I have a deal with some of the local supermarkets so we can feed Snaffles enough meat. But sometimes, maybe every 8 months or so we get ahead of schedule and find some 'bigger game' ---usually an unfortunate Jon Doe. There are so many of them, and it seems a terrible waste when there are big cats that need to be fed. Maybe there are more deserving celebrities or public figures that I could feed Snaffles, but this isn't a political statement... it's about feeding my pet cat.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit

I was 30 years old before I really, truly fell in love with bob dylan's music. That tells you:
1) I have good taste, finally
2) I don't have that much that is private and/or I don't have that much that I'm willing to admit.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You want to! Like I said, I want to meet new people for friendship and going out to do stuff.

I'm also totally serious about looking for people to start a household. Looking for 3-5 people, men and women. Similar lifestyles, but independent minded. Smoke outside, pets encouraged, no dietary fascism. Everything else is on the table. Let's talk/write about it.
