My self-summary
I am educated, well mannered, and three-legged. Take that, Cupid!!!

Sometimes I like to mess with the staff robot by changing some of My Details. Just to see what comes up, and how OKcupid works:)

My facts are here: 42/M/Straight but not narrow/Seeing someone but available for casual dating and friendship. Looking for Everybody, any age or stripe. I want to meet new people, learn new things, enjoy conversations in real-time.
What I’m doing with my life
Riding my bike around town while drinking a beer. Working at the registration desk and looking over at the reference desk with longing. Happily avoiding most social media.... except for OKcupid because it's fun:)

I've had this profile since 2005, hence the amount of questions I've answered. I do have a life offline, I swear.

I'm dating someone I met here and it's great! We both have active profiles and sometimes go on dates with other people. It's an exercise in honesty. Finding new hottie sex partners is not as much of a priority as discovering new kinds of intercourse/discourse/rembrant-pussy-horse.*
(*especially if you caught that reference)
I’m really good at
Relevant and random factoids. Blending flavors, and picking words. When I finally print my business cards and/or self-promoting T-shirt, it will say:
The first things people usually notice about me
Painfully strict manners, and fanatical adherence to Strunk &
. My new year's resolution is to single-space not double-space after the full stop. What can I say, I learned on an electric typewriter.
*edit: It was pretty easy.

My managers at work wonder if I fall somewhere on the autism spectrum, and, I let them wonder.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen, Grapes of Wrath, Anything Vonnegut, Anything Antoine St. Exupery.
Yeah, I know... all-dead-white-dudes! But, the truth is I'm into non-fiction these days. I read lots of essay and journalism by writers of all stripes and genders.

Eraserhead. Woman in the Dunes. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Videodrome.
That's the kind of stuff I like, but I'm happy to go see whatever is playing with you. I love going out to the movies. Or kicking it on the couch.

I Love radio left-of-the-dial! KEXP, KALX, WFMU, KCRW, good ol' KUSF.
And internet radio, woo-woo!

Brian Eno, Ramones, Velvet Underground, Love and Rockets, Big Black, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Idiot Flesh, Charming Hostess.
MGMT, This Mortal Coil and 4AD. Ambient music without drum machines.
Opal, Kendra Smith, Patti Smith, Black Flag and the Germs. Magazine, Einsturzende Neubauten, Red Temple Spirits.

Arcade Fire, the National, New Pornographers, Kate Bush, Broken Social Scene. *Butthole Surfers, Dead Kennedys, Sonic Youth. Daniel Lanois.

Sparks, Devo, Gleaming Spires. Redd Cross. Sex Pistols. Niel Young.

Philip Glass, Slapp Happy, CAN, Siouxsie and the Banshees, SWANS, throbbing gristle, Bad Seeds.
And the LA band 'X', as well as the Dutch band "the Ex."

I'm fortunate to have seen many of the above acts live! But on record: Prokofiev, E. Satie, Stravinsky, Shostakovich (had to spell check that last one).

Oh, and of course the Pixies, the Cure, Beatles, maybe Fleetwood Mac.... y'know, I just dig Music.

My favorite food is the kind I make for you or you make for me. I have a professional background in food, but in the end it's all about sharing honest homemade meals together.
The six things I could never do without
I need to eat fresh fruit every day. But otherwise, I can deal without most things.

My pet tiger, he's 6 years old and stays on a ranch in S. California. Yes, it is legal to have a pet tiger if you have certain provisions. The keepers and I have a deal with some of the local supermarkets so we can feed Snaffles enough meat. But sometimes, maybe every 8 months or so we get ahead of schedule and find some 'bigger game' ---usually an unfortunate Jon Doe. There are so many of them, and it seems a terrible waste when there are big cats that need to be fed. Maybe there are more deserving celebrities or public figures that I could feed Snaffles, but this isn't a political statement... it's about feeding my pet cat.

Morale of the story: Once you tame something, you are forever responsible.
I spend a lot of time thinking about

in every
sense of
the word.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a significant amount of precious metal in my mouth. My dentist told me "don't go smiling in any dark alleys" but it's still in my nature to do so.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 28–52
  • Located anywhere
  • For new friends, short-term dating
You should message me if
You want to... I'd like it, and I will respond in kind:-)
I'm here on a social media 'site, so of course I want to meet people. Even if I don't respond right away.

Local peeps, let's just meet in berkeley for coffee or whatever.
Far-away, just say 'Hi' ---it's fun to get messages, y'know?
