I am curious, lighthearted, and an overanalyzer.
My Self-Summary
Don't just stand there, have some cookies!
No, really. Go have some. Now! But no raisin cookies.
I enjoy reading, being online, watching movies, camping, and
hiking. While that's not terribly inspiring, as a billion other
people on here do those exact same activities, I thought I'd give
it a try.
I enjoy learning, and I like history, mythology, science... etc. I
spelunk Wikipedia constantly, and ask a lot of questions. I find
joy in small things.
Disneyland, for instance... or
finding a shiny object to enjoy, receiving snail mail,
understanding something, sitting on a rock in the sun, going to a
family reunion... etc. I overuse commas and emoticons.
Apparently I'm a Democrat now. I don't really get politics. =\ I
have feelings on issues, but it's hard for me to just say, "Oh,
yeah, I'm a ....(democrat, republican, flying spaghetti monster
acolyte, jedi, etc)." Last time I took the test, I was a
Totalitarian (sounds despotic!), and amusingly enough, located
right between the Pope and Darth Vader. I don't think I'm that
evil... hahah. Anyway. Now I've moved over the border into
Democrat. But what does that mean, anyway?
Oh, and my family's a museum family, so you're forewarned! ;)
What I’m doing with my life
Job hunting. It sucks.
I just graduated from
UCLA. I'm now officially a Master of
Library and Information Science. Ha. What type of librarian will I
be, you ask? I'm not sure. Perhaps an archivist? Or in
conservation? Medical? o.O I volunteer part time at a local rare
books library doing archival processing and other general library
stuff. (Like... making up riddles for an easter egg hunt, feeding
cats, and putting together boxes at lightning speed, haha.)
Almost three summers ago in 2006 (geez, it's been so long! =(
sadness) I went to
Oxford University for five
weeks to take a Roman Britain history class and a medieval
literature class. I was terrified of going abroad, but I did it all
by myself, and it was the most
amazing experience
ever!
So I just went back a year ago in September, for three weeks, and I
have to go back like right now. I miss the food. Sad, huh? Sigh.
And the green... I even got used to the weather. (Scary, I know!)
I’m really good at
Being practical. Reading quickly. Queuing. Having eyes larger than
my stomach. Getting around places I've never been to forearmed with
maps and knowledge about the places.
The first things people usually notice about me
My height, or that I've run into the corner of a door, or tripped
over myself. That tends to hurt.
Or, they think "I shall ask her directions!" ... seriously. It's
weird. Even in foreign countries. TWICE in one day, in a foreign
country.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books -- David & Leigh Eddings' books,
Harry Potter, silly historical
romance novels, fantasy, historical fiction, books of Civil War
photography, kids books, etc. I love short stories, especially
classic or very weird ones -- especially
Bradbury and
Vonnegut; my personal favorite short
stories are "The Pedestrian" and "Harrison Bergeron".
Movies -- among the many...
Disney movies (
Sleeping Beauty,
101 Dalmatians and
Robin Hood are
my favorites!), Howl's Moving Castle, Forrest Gump, Princess Bride,
Gladiator, Hot Fuzz (hahaha, oh goodness, it's great XD), Return of
the King, Return of the Jedi, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
(...notice how the last of the movies in trilogies are always the
best, and the second usually suck the most? yes.), In Bruges, and
Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Music -- alternative, punk, rock, classical, oldies,
some
country, vocal, instrumental... I don't like rap or hip-hop or
super hard rock, or churchy powerpoint music. I enjoy artists like
Three Doors Down and Josh Groban, and stuff on KROQ (you know, the
stuff they played here in California in the 90s?). I'm also big on
movie soundtracks -- especially Phantom of the Opera, Pride and
Prejudice, Gladiator, Lord of the Rings, and Spirit.
Food -- lots. I enjoy eating, it's my friends' and mine favorite
pastime. ;) I like mint things, Italian food (mm, tiramisu...),
Asian food, hamburgers, ice cream... I will almost never turn down
dessert. =P Oh! And British food. Don't let anyone tell you their
food is horrible. It's yummy. Especially
custard. Well, I guess they have some
weird stuff I'd never eat, like blood pudding.
The six things I could never do without
Sleep/naps, something comforting and/or fuzzy, my friends and
family, the internet and everything that comes with it, comfortable
clothes, and the outdoors.
And chapstick. And sweatshirts. Um... and... my pound puppy I've
had since I was two.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How my profile gets longer the more I try to prune it.
My future, and how I might be able to combine and achieve my huge
list of relatively seemingly-impossible aspirations.
And
treehouses.
=)
On a typical Friday night I am
So pretty much I just unwind online, or go directly to sleep. What
an exciting life I live, eh? Now that I'm back in Los Angeles, my
weekends and weekdays tend to be reversed... I fight through Friday
5 o'clock stop-and-go city street traffic in downtown LA (barf)
after a full day of work, and then I'm too tired to do anything
other than eat. =P
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I skip down Main Street at Disneyland.
I was one of those kids who did 1+1+1+1... on my mom's calculator
for entertainment.
I, too, cheated on Choose Your Own Adventure stories.
I loooove to feed the ducks.
I stole a spoon from the dining hall in Oxford. I do feel bad about
that, but at least I didn't steal a hymnal from the college church
there, like one girl, geez!
You should message me if
I like to talk to people, to ask questions, to make up random
stories. I'm not really looking for "THE ONE"... I would much
rather talk to people and see what happens.
You know, I love
xkcd. That should tell you enough.
Or, you can tell me what Hogwarts house you'd be sorted into.
Seriously! Yes, I am that dorky. Get over it.
