I am thoughtful, sarcastic, and deliberate.
My Self-Summary
Might as well get this over with...
I studied Physics in college but my current job lists me as an
engineer. I have always thought it important to be well-rounded
and, consequently, also took advanced literature and philosophy
classes. I find beauty in both great works of art and
well-engineered machines. I am not good at designing something but
can fix almost anything.
For me, quality trumps quantity in most aspects of life.
I am very well-traveled and my pages-added passport has been on 6/7
continents. Because a lot of that travel is for work, I have been
fortunate to be exposed to local culture in a way that most
tourists never experience. I used to be a picky eater, but now love
trying new local cuisine.
I hate hyphenated words and it kills me how many I've used so
far.
I love music and have quite a collection. I love going to concerts,
something I have not been able to do as much as I would like
recently.
What I’m doing with my life
Traveling quite a bit, working, staying sane, living the dream.
I’m really good at
estimating the temperature of molten metal by looking at its color,
parallel parking, procrastinating, spinning my 9/16" wrench around
like a drum stick, losing 160gb iPods (I am on #3 right now),
forgetting people's names thirty seconds after being introduced, my
job, realizing that I've just spent hours reading about completely
random shit on wikipedia and still have 20 or so browser tabs open
with articles.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I hate distilling my "likes" as if it defines my personality.
Books:
Don DeLillo, David Foster Wallace, Kurt Vonnegut Jr., Hunter S.
Thompson, John Barth, Cormac McCarthy, Thomas Pynchon, Albert Camus
etc.
Movies:
Stanley Kubrick, Darren Aronofsky, Coen Brothers, P.T. Anderson,
David Lynch, Bottle Rocket/Rushmore, Brain Candy, etc.
Music:
tons of varied stuff, I'll update it soon. (NB: Not the "I'll
listen to anything" type; my tastes are rather specific and I am
passionate about music)
TV, even though it wasn't asked:
Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Kids in the Hall, Arrested Development,
Mr. Show, The State, Trailer Park Boys, The office (uk), Extras,
Monty Python's Flying Circus, Seinfeld, How It's Made, The Young
Ones, Law and Order, Cash Cab, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, The
Colbert Report, Homicide: Life on the Street, The Wire, Veronica
Mars, Top Gear, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Aqua Teen Hunger
Force
The six things I could never do without
coffee (x6)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I spend a lot of time over-analyzing everything.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I get over my social anxiety rather quickly given the right
circumstances.
