My self-summary
I love asking questions and figuring out how things work. That curiosity has led to more degrees than any one person should probably have (I'm a veterinarian with a PhD in microbiology), but now I get to play the "why?" game and get paid for it. That being said, I've had more than one person tell me I don't act like a doctor. I take that as a compliment.

I know my way around a kitchen, and prefer cooking to baking because it's freer and more improvisational. I also make beer, which probably doesn't count as cooking, but it's fun and tasty, so I'll mention it here.

I love baseball, I was a catcher, then a coach, and I've always been an A's fan.

I'm INTJ. I don't know why so many people have that posted here, but I like that I'm the Mastermind. It makes me feel like I should have a secret lair in a volcano.

Oh and I have a cat. His name is Hunter, he has a tattoo, and he's awesome.
What I’m doing with my life
I study viruses and how to stop them in their tracks. I love my job, and the plan is to go on to a faculty position somewhere. But that's a couple years away still, probably.
I’m really good at
Cooking, thinking off the wall thoughts, laughing...but not lists.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm usually laughing or smiling. I've been told before that I smile too much...I still don't think that's possible.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I hate making lists, and will always try to cut them short. That being said:

Books: The Stand, The Three Musketeers, The Naked Ape, Jasper Fforde, I have some really interesting cook books I read for fun just as much as for ideas, and I think free classics on Kindle are awesome. Basically, if you put it in front of me, I will read it.

Movies: Bull Durham, The Shawshank Redemption, L.A.Story, and definitely others.

Food: Nearly anything, I'm an adventurous eater, and I go through phases of foods I like, rather than having specific favorites. Right now I'm flipping back and forth between Persian and Mexican.
The six things I could never do without
Science
Friends
Baseball
Beer
A good set of kitchen knives
Coffee
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Viruses, evolution, and immunity when I'm at work. At home, it depends on what hobby I'm focused on at the moment. My CSA has started up again, so I'm starting to think about what to do with the massive flood of (delicious) vegetables I'm about to be hit with. Any favorite recipes/ideas?
On a typical Friday night I am
Either out for drinks with friends, still in lab, or at home reading something.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I once got lost 2 blocks away from my house. I was 10 and we'd just moved there...but still, 2 blocks!
