My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a transplanted Brit. with a lot of energy and a busy life. I'd love to make time for someone who enjoys conversation, walking, theater, dining, and laughing at the absurdity of meeting through the personals. I believe in always learning from one's mistakes and in making smart decisions, but not being afraid of revising them into today's new plans . . . . Lately, I've learned to spread my wings, tested my comfort zones, stood up for my beliefs, bought property, finished what I started, and walked away at the right moment . . . . I've confronted difficulty, not held onto hate, embraced love, considered wisely, and acted spontaneously. I'm gregarious and I am told I have a great sense of humor. I'm an academic and books and writing are a major part of my life. If this sounds like someone you'd like to get to know and you have complementary characteristics, then do contact me--please have a picture!

What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm working hard . . . to be the best person I can be. I want to be deliriously happy once in a while, and relatively content much of the rest of the time. I want to learn how to follow my longings, but also to know if they're worth following. I like my job, but sometimes I work too hard. I'd like more energy!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making people laugh. Teaching people to find in themselves what they don't realize they already know. Having my own style. Being brave and resilient. Being compassionate and passionate both.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Well, you'll have to tell me . . . the accent, of course, but that's too easy. My smile, then. The way I walk--fast and steady, despite walking with a cane (I have really crappy balance--but you won't notice that right away!). My forthrightness. My humor. That I am polite, sincere, and caring. That I don't get enough sleep . . . . zzzz.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Too many to chose from--I teach, I listen to a great of deal of music and read many books. Even so, I wish I had time for more. I'm always interested in new recommendations! Eclectic tastes in food and odd aversions~love Asian food of many types, but won't eat rice. Go figure.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Silly question. Does one put the basics--air, water, food, intellectual stimulation--or shoot for the moon and list the out-of-reach? Will it be world travel or chocolate? Fresh flowers on my table every day and champagne in my glass?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What I'm going to teach tomorrow. How to find my heart-companion. What can and will make my heart sing. Books. Fabric, color, texture, language, and music. Another silly question.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
My Friday nights are rarely typical
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
. . . . is not something that I'm willing to admit in this forum.
