I am rational, open, and reliable.
My Self-Summary
I'm a fifty-something computer geek who's been divorced now for a
few years. I have two college-age sons, a cute dog, a wide range of
interests, and a place in my life for a woman of grace and
intelligence. I'd bet that's you.
What am I like?
* Intelligent -- I'm curious, well-read, and have a good grasp of
science and history.
* Funny -- My sense of humor is sometimes dry, sometimes just plain
wacky.
* Affectionate -- I learned a long time ago not to hide how I feel
about a person. Without being mushy or maudlin, I can tell someone
just how much I care for them.
* Confident -- Some rough patches the last few years have taught me
that I have strengths I did not suspect.
* Honest -- Nothing in a relationship, or any part of life for that
matter, is more important than honesty. I consider honesty and
integrity to be the cornerstone of character.
I'm not looking for just a few fun times or a quick casual fling.
I'm devoted to finding a solid, committed, loving relationship. I
want that, I'm fully capable of it, and I'm ready for it to
begin.
Can you be the woman who forges that relationship?
What I’m doing with my life
After twenty-five years as a corporate wage slave, I'm trying to
change careers and become a teacher. It's a rough road, but I still
have hope that I can reach my goal.
I’m really good at
My handle pretty much gives away the store -- yes, I'm a geek, and
proud of it. I've worked with computers for over twenty years, and
don't often encounter a computer problem I can't at least make
better, if not solve altogether.
But geeks like me are a dime a dozen these days. What else am I
good at? Listening, getting the job done, enjoying a quiet evening,
and being a true and loyal friend.
The first things people usually notice about me
I smile easily, I laugh easily, and I look you straight in the eye
when we talk.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: Being a geek, science fiction is a must... Asimov's
'Foundation' series, Card's 'Ender's Game', Flint's '1632',
Tolkien, almost anything by Larry Niven, John Scalzi, or Arthur C.
Clarke.
Movies: 'Lord of the Rings', 'Contact', '2010' (much better than
the original!), 'Time Bandits', 'Big Trouble in Little China',
Henson's 'Labyrinth'.
TV: 'Star Trek' (all of them), 'Stargate: SG-1' and 'Stargate:
Atlantis', 'Doctor Who', 'Mythbusters', 'Dirty Jobs', 'CSI', a lot
of the Food Channel, and (reaching back a little) 'Wise Guy'.
The six things I could never do without
• My sons
• My family
• Books
• The Internet
• Hawaiian Punch
• My morning bagel
On a typical Friday night I am
Most Fridays you'll find me at home, walking the dog and cooking my
dinner. Sure would be nice to have some more Friday-night options,
though...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
My guilty pleasure is 'Extreme Makeover Home Edition'. I always
tear up a little bit when the family sees their house for the first
time.
You should message me if
You want to meet a man who is level-headed, honest, uncomplicated,
and believes that integrity is a cornerstone of all human
relationships.
