My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I enjoy collecting stories and perspectives. For this reason, I enjoy reading history and traveling, especially if it is to a place where everything is completely different from what I have known. I don't want to have vacations; I want adventures.

In my free time, I enjoy trying new foods (but also eating copious amounts of sushi and ramen), trying new drinks (mostly wines and whiskeys), checking out the odd music or art show, furthering my practice of yoga, and reading.

I'm looking for someone who is intellectually curious, open-minded, and honest, with both herself and others. Above all, I want someone who is real. No aspirational contextualization for me!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm an attorney. My firm primarily does (patent) litigation. Previously, I worked in neurogenetics and publishing.

But the above is just a job. I endeavor to read and write, travel, and above all, further myself. It's nice, but not necessary, to have companions along the way.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
inverting cliches into something cynically lovely. I tend to compartmentalize, yet take the long view.

my hair (for now, because it's long).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: I wouldn't say I have favorite books. I tend to read them and never touch them again, but here are some I really enjoyed recently--
The Coming Anarchy, Vodka Politics, Blood and Thunder, Vanished Kingdoms, A Song of Ice and Fire. Most of these books are non-fiction.

Movies: Lawrence of Arabia; Guardians of the Galaxy; Batman (the Christian Bale ones). There are others I like, but sorry, I'm really not a movie person (too much of an investment of time if they suck)

Shows: Game of Thrones; Hawaii Five-O (I'm slightly embarrassed); Dexter; Bones; Rome.

Music: a little bit of everything--ethereal pop, jazz, soul, rap, rock, etc.; Mr. Little Jeans, Alice Russell, UGK, Nada Surf, etc.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.

Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
investigative journalism pieces that discuss distant and often obscure places, and which provide broader insights into human nature and the global flows of resources and people.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I'm just going to list my hobbies: yoga, gaming (xbox and PC; enjoy stealth, 1PS, and strategy games), drinking (guinness, pilsners, speyside scotches) and talking, pool, swimming, working out, reading.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

You have imaginative sympathy, enjoy guinness, and want to build a real connection. Solitudes are common, their synchronies, rare.
