My self-summary
I am an anarchist philosopher and wannabe farmer who loves mountains and forests and deserts and oceans and is pained by what we humans are doing to them. I AM funny, sometimes shy, thoughtful, deep, silly, capable of high passions and low laziness, and I love to climb things -- rocks, hills, barns, trees, ice, snow, piles of pillows, haylofts. I AM NOT too illogical, inspired by plans to rule the world, bad in bed, in the least bit religious unless you count loving to be deep in the woods or on a mountain where I feel tiny.

It's been about 5 years now, but I'll never set foot in a Wal-mart for the rest of my life, except maybe to loot, but even then it's unlikely that there's anything in there even remotely useful. If I shop at all, it's usually at thrift shops and flea markets. DIY is my modus operandi as much as possible.

I am alive, engaged, and dissenting
What I’m doing with my life
Corrupting the youth as a college professor, climbing when I can, settling into a new home in Plymouth!
I’m really good at
Knitting, climbing, philosophizing, making people laugh, figuring things out, although sometimes it takes me a while. I'm getting better at: building fires, swimming naked, identifying plants, finishing things, and enjoying being alive.
The first things people usually notice about me
my smile, my blue eyes, my butt, my sense of humor
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
books -- non-fiction, anything brilliant about world politics, peak oil, ecological economics, organic gardening, political philosophy, game theory, climbing; fiction, Rushdie, Atwood, Burgess, Borges, Calvino, Lahiri, Vonnegut

Lately I've been reading more and more Jorge Luis Borges and he's now my number one all time favorite author.

movies -- documentaries, interesting indies, recent spanish flicks

music -- gypsies, punks, poets, West African guitar blues, rai, salsa, and a smattering of male and female singerwriters, plugged in and not.

food -- homegrown, luscious, spicy, some meat, but only if raised by me or farmers I know
The six things I could never do without
music
touch
eyes
books
boots
walks in the woods and mountains
I spend a lot of time thinking about
plants sprouting and flowering and fruiting, the hills around here, water dripping and trickling and flowing, how it feels to be alive and kicking, words, languages, how things work, the sheer randomness of it all
On a typical Friday night I am
doing whatever strikes me as something to do.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I like the way I smell and if you don't that might just be a deal breaker.

You want to climb, hit hot metal with a hammer, take a dip in a clear, cold creek,...
