My self-summary
Hi! This is certainly not a complete self-summary, but it's a start as I don't have much time at the moment.

I enjoy British Comedy (Brit-coms), Doctor Who, anime, bridge, knitting, travel, games and any number of other things.

I am companionable, bright, and cuddly
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a librarian by training currently working at an international school in Brazil as head librarian.

Before this, I spent 2.5 years at an international school in Germany and three years in NYC at the new York Public Library. I grew up in Seattle, moved east to attend Dartmouth College from which I graduated in 2002. Since then, I have taught French, Religion, library skills, and worked in a public library (specializing in young adult work). I've worked with kids ages 2-18!

I received my masters in library science in 2006. I'm currently working on a second masters in Education. If I had the money, I'd love to get a masters in theology, because it's interesting.

I adore travel. At 60+ countries and all 50 states, I admit I sometimes go to tick them off my list, but you should hear my stories of my 5 minutes in Nebraska or spending an hour in Croatia before I even knew what country I was in. That happens when you drive to a lot of destinations. But to be fair, I've lived on three continents, so it's been easier to get to all the tiny countries in Europe and the Caribbean.
I’m really good at
Reading, being a good friend, playing games.
The first things people usually notice about me
Friendliness and my random facts. Seriously, I have a deal with the kids at my school that every day they can come ask for a random fact, and I will tell them something. If I can't think of anything off the top of my head, they throw words at me until something triggers a memory of knowledge. I love shows like QI (quite interesting) for supplying me with new facts! And unlike trivia websites, I don't like to just give a fact, I like to explain the facts and understand the facts.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
(a)I love books too much to chose just one, but I enjoy a lot of science fiction. I read quite a bit of young adult (YA) literature because it's fun and for my career. I have a guilty love of Michael Crichton and John Grisham. I've written a couple of bad romance novels. (Hey, you have to write something if you're going to do NaNoWriMo!) But really, I love the Science Fiction, and have been very very lucky to have dinner with the likes of Orson Scott Card, George RR Martin, John Scalzi, and others. I love my job!

(b)Lawrence of Arabia

(c) In no particular order: How I met your mother, QI, Grey's Anatomy, Bones, Castle, Mock the Week, Would I Lie to You, The Big Bang Theory.

(d)Classical, show tunes, opera

(e)Most anything. I love to cook! I'm especially good at desserts. I prefer savory dishes to sweet when eating, but I love to bake for others.
The six things I could never do without
God, books, friends and family, love, cuddles, knowledge
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I want to be when I grow up. I love my job, but I'm tempted by the possibilities of federal or local government jobs (foreign service, etc.)
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging with friends or at home watching something good or reading.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 28–46
  • Located anywhere
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating
You should message me if
You're a fun-loving, intelligent guy. Preferably one who doesn't mind realizing he's a bit geeky. (Like science fiction? Enjoy video games or British Comedy? OK by me! For me, geeky is a positive. It's not the same as nerdy, unless you're a Nerdfighter, then that's cool.)

You have a faith or are actively questing/agnostic. I'm an Episcopalian, and fairly conservative religiously (fairly liberal politically).
