My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Full disclosure: I live in NJ but work and attend grad school in NY and am in the city pretty much every day. Should be properly moving to the city in the next few months.

NY born, Jersey raised, escaped to Oregon for four and a half years, wandered back east.

I'm a skilled conversationalist and a teller of tales. I wear a lot of vintage, eat a lot of avocados, swear like a sailor, and kiss like a lover.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Getting a Master's at NYU, working multiple jobs, trying to find the best ice cream on this island.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Identifying art, teaching your old dog new tricks, Settlers of Catan, cooking.
I'm also fairly skilled at: making atrocious puns, making the perfect cup of coffee, spontaneous dancing, reinventing song lyrics to fit various circumstances, skiing, NYT crossword puzzles, appraising antiques, spinning yarns, and being awkward. I can juggle, do the mashed potato and the twist, and I get headaches when it rains.

For balance, I'm really bad at.... soberly walking in a straight line (I just sort of naturally weave), checking my e-mail, stairs, trains, not over-thinking, using chopsticks, updating software, and taxes.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I ramble on, wear lots of hats, smell like mulberries, and use oxford commas.

Asking me to pick my favorites of the above categories is like asking a mother to choose which of her kids she likes best. If pressed to answer:

Books - To Kill A Mockingbird, Everything Is Illuminated, The Giver, The Canterbury Tales, As I Lay Dying, The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter, The Pillars of the Earth, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, The History of Love, and a great deal of poetry. Plus I maintain avid subscriptions to National Geographic, Smithsonian, and Vogue.

Last Read: How Did You Get This Number
Currently Reading: Good Time Gals
Reading Next: I dunno, you tell me!

Movies - The Royal Tenenbaums (and really anything by Anderson), Some Like It Hot, Harold & Maude, The Graduate, Pleasantville, Garden State, Holy Motors, Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice.

Next Watching: A Matter of Life and Death (1946)

Music - The Bowerbirds, Bob Dylan, Arcade Fire, Joanna Newsom, Simon & Garfunkel, Elliott Smith, Neutral Milk Hotel, Fleet Foxes, Led Zeppelin, Billie Holiday, Alt-J, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Andrew Bird, Modest Mouse, TV On The Radio, The Shins, The Kinks, Neil Young, Nicole Atkins, Eagles of Death Metal, The Builders and the Butchers, The White Stripes, Spoon, Bowie, Cults, most jazz, blues, doo-wop, motown, folk, classic rock, funk, new wave, classical, and a healthy dose of hip-hop.

Current Musical Obsession (to be updated whenever I remember/fucking feel like it):

Shows - Boardwalk Empire, Downton Abbey, Arrested Development, 30 Rock, Always Sunny, Parks & Rec, Futurama, Weeds, Archer, Party Down, Clone High, Daria, Twin Peaks, Colbert, Stewart, Freaks & Geeks, Broad City, Workaholics, South Park.

Food - Anything authentic/home cooked. No seafood, extra hot sauce.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
This is just so silly.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The way the universe keeps expanding seemingly in conjunction with my bank account's shrinking.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I'm sort of a closeted introvert with an A-type personality..... I'm great at going out and jumping through social hoops, but I don't generally care for bars/clubs/large parties. If there's something happening, I'll make the rounds and be the life of the party, but I find it fairly exhausting and would almost rather be home cooking something interesting/reading/watching a movie/etc. My ideal is socializing in a small group/one on one dynamic where everyone is comfortable with one another..... Going adventuring or just hanging out with a partner or small group of friends appeals to me far more than doing whatever it is people my age normally do.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Until embarrassingly recently I thought "Hotel California" was about a haunted whorehouse. Severely disappointed it isn't.
