Four things that are super important to me -
Comic Books: I love reading in general, but comics have a special place in my heart. They've evolved so much from being just for kids. I get excited when I read them: there are issues of privilege in X-Men, Saga is an awesome space opera that combines Star Wars, Romeo and Juliet and A Sword of Fire and Ice. They make me think and I love it.
Movies: There is a movie out there for everyone and I think that's rad. I love sitting around after a night of grilling and watching the absolute worst movies ever with a few beers and a few friends. I enjoy most movies; I have no idea how people limit themselves to one genre. My best friend and I sometimes will sit down and watch extremely serious movies and make fun of the movie. It becomes pretty hilarious. The more serious the movie, the more we make fun of it while we watch it.
Being Outside: Being outside feels so amazing. I spent five years working in a call center at night, going to and from work. I didn't see the sun, I wasn't outside and I was miserable. I think that spending more time outside and enduring the weather has made me a much happier person. If I'm out eating with people at a restaurant, if it is remotely nice, I'm the one to say “SIT US OUTSIDE!”
Henry Rollins: I grew up without a father and at a young age my mother told me: “The good part about having a father that didn't want to be there for you, is that you get to pick who your male role models are.” For me, the person that I started looking up to is Henry Rollins. I've never met the man, I've just read his poetry and listened to him talk. He's helped shape my view on living, morality and friendship.
My Job: I make people coffee. I get to move around all day and talk to people. I don't think that jobs can get much better than that. Both talking to people and moving around are pretty healthy things. The job is low stress and we have some pretty rad regulars.
