My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm into enjoying life- music, reading, writing, photography, art in general, the outdoors, camping, cooking, running, and exploring new places. I am a teacher who loves his job, but realizes there's more to life than his job and making a living.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Following whims, running, trying new restaurants and bars (mostly in the East Village/ LES); writing; going to museums/galleries; taking pictures.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Listening, putting people at ease, making people laugh, instructing nine year olds in the art of sarcasm, and baking bread.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I'm really into Jack Kerouac, J.D. Salinger, Hunter Thompson, Henry Miller, Hermann Hesse, Tom Robbins, and John Steinbeck. Yes, I realize they're all white men, and with one exception, dead. Feel free to suggest authors so I can broaden my apparently narrow range. My last three books, however were by James Baldwin, Zora Hurston, and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. So, progress.
I am a fan of the Coen brothers, Wes Anderson, Clint Eastwood, Stanley Kubrick, Crimes and Misdemeanors, There Will Be Blood, Godfather I and II and many others. Oops, more white men. See above.
Music is a passion. I'm into rock (classic, punk, folk, metal), '60s and '70s soul, jazz and hip-hop. Current frequent listening: Future Islands, tuneyards, Wild Belle, GZA, Coltrane, Endless Boogie, Miles Davis, Caribou. WFMU is amazing, as is WNYC.
Not too into TV, but I enjoy Curb, 30 Rock, Breaking Bad, The Wire, and so on.
I love to cook, but I also really enjoy looking for new places to eat.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Music, reading, Manhattan (the borough, not the movie, although the movie is great too), coffee, human interaction, and being reasonably close to woods or a forest.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Music, the book I'm reading, my class (during the school year), and what to do when I have free time. And that part in the movie Airplane! when Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is being pulled from his seat and he's suddenly wearing his Lakers uniform, complete with goggles.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Awake/asleep; in/out; depends on the Friday.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I used to say "I'm a Hall and Oates fan," in this part, but apparently there's no reason to hide this. Phew.
