My self-summary
7 Rs...

I'm Emma, a native St. Louisan, biracial Japanese-American (the other bits are primarily Irish and Anglo-Saxon, with some Alsatian tossed in the mix), out bisexual (albeit gay by love), and culturally spiritual (while also being Athiest/Agnostic belief-wise -- they're not mutually exclusive).

I'm happily and monogamously in love with my soul mate, Aileen, and plan to get married in September. I suppose it goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway, FRIENDS ONLY.

I come from a family comprised mostly of architects, artists and graphic designers, so art was sort of in the cards for me (in some manifestation) from birth. In my case, I'm a poetry and fiction writer (and occasional artist's model), and a devotee of visual arts and creative writing. (The rest of my family are primarily lawyers, if you wondered.)

Above all, I'm interested in anthropology and folklore. I consider myself a world citizen (who isn't, ultimately?) and circumnavigated the globe with a program called Semester at Sea (Take that, bucket list!)
What I’m doing with my life
In Fall 2010, I started the M.A. program in Folklore at Indiana University - Bloomington. I also write poetry and fiction. I'm a perpetual activist, volunteering with various organizations (big issues: environment, GLBT rights, liberal politics, reproductive choice).

I love my cats, Donatello (see the GLEE photo) and Ramesses (black). I'm also very devoted to my partner and spend much of my time with her.
I’m really good at
Poetry. Academics. I was a track champion in high school, in 400m hurdles.
Can't play an instrument well, unfortunately (though I did play
trumpet in the middle school band). I'm an excellent lover, of
course.

I can even sing my gorgeous rhymes with an impressive vocal range!

The first things people usually notice about me
I can't read the minds of other people (although I am quite curious), so I'm going to replace the header with "My most striking features are".

1) I have a unique face. I don't look particularly Japanese, but there's something about my features that can't be easily placed into one race or another.
2) My eyes. Amber, slightly almond-shaped. I try to be a bit sultry with them.
3) My skin. A lot of people comment on this -- so I suppose they must notice it specifically.

The six things I could never do without
My cat, my girl, my brain, my beauty, literacy, my sense of self.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
There's a novel! You should message me if you're interested in the answer to this one.
On a typical Friday night I am
Home with my girl. Dinner out. A concert or show of some sort. Checking out drinks at a new dive. Gallery opening. Howling at the moon (just kidding -- that's plausible, but atypical). Living in a city, there are generally a lot of options!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
It says "gay" at the top of the page. :) This fire needs no new fuel just yet.
I’m looking for
  • Everybody
  • Ages 18–80
  • Located anywhere
  • For new friends, long-distance penpals
You should message me if
I am looking for whatever comes my way and occupies my mind. Delighting me is also a plus.
