My name is Katie, and I am a feminist from Texas. I'm originally from Austin, but I've lived on the East Coast for a few years now. It's not so bad, but I do miss the open expanses of Texas sky, 100 degree weather, two dollar beers, and the woods. There are also creepy crawly things in Texas. That's something you just don't see in these parts. I'm thinking of tarantulas, black widows, scorpions, and rattle-snakes. I miss that sense of adventure and danger that comes with never knowing if there is something hiding in your boot that might cause you serious bodily injury.
Most of the time I'm pretty talkative and easy-going. I've been called a cynical optimist.
I spend lots of time reading philosophy, feminist theory, queer theory, postcolonial theory, and fantasy books. I also do yoga a lot, mostly Ashtanga and hot Vinyasa, because it is totally addictive.
My job is basically to read all of the time and write some stuff, so I spend a LOT of time doing this, but I try to make time to go out with friends to bars, clubs, shows, etc., a few times a week.
