My self-summary
The way to my heart?

Wit.

fine print: INFJ.
What I’m doing with my life
Writing comedy and not comedy, taking pictures (www.richwoodsonphotography.net, walking dogs for fun and profit, composing music, drinking coffee, listening to stand-up comedy, reading books, reviews of books, and reviews of reviews of books, listening to podcasts...about books. And death.
I’m really good at
Avoiding clichés like the plague. Ha!
Interpreting tone in everyday speech.
Calling my mom every Tuesday.
Word nerding.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Interviews in the Paris Review are perennial favorites. I recently enjoyed the fuck out of Joan Didion's The Year of Magical Thinking. Am currently re-reading Art of Memoir by Mary Karr. I read some Chekhov plays a while back. They're a little on-the-nose. "Anya Petrovna. I'm so depressed because of my conflicted feelings for the Governess Sasha Alexyavich. It's all so unfortunate and I'm the only one to blame and yet why do I lash out at everyone? And why won't anyone loan me any more money even though it's known throughout the village that I never pay my lenders in a timely manner or at all?" Condensed Chekhov. You're welcome.

I have strong feelings about movies. Or as I sometimes refer to them - films. Favorite directors? Cronenberg, Akerman, Resnais, Rohmer, Desplechin, Denis, Lynne Ramsay among many others.

I just started watching Pulling, a hilarious British sitcom. Other favorites include Mr. Show, You're the Worst, Master of None, 30Rock and Bob's Burgers, among many others.

Over the years I've listened to a lot of jazz and progressive rock and pop from the 70s through the 90s but these days I don't listen to much music at all. It's embarrassing how much music I don't listen to.

I like strong flavors. Indian usually wins but I'm not picky. I am also not opposed to hoagies.
The six things I could never do without
A sense of porpoise.
Raised eyebrows for emphasis.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Snappy comebacks. Three years after the fact.
How big and complex the world is.
On a typical Friday night I am
At IFC Center, BAMcinematek or the Film Forum. In the dark. Napping.
You should message me if
You want to talk about the Human Condition. And eat cheese.
