My self-summary Propose an edit

Hmmm, not too sure what I should include here.

I'm definitely one who marches to his own drum (or perhaps some other instrument all together). I have a many interests that span a number of topics. My studies in university include language (Arabic), computer science, music (voice) and international relations. I was a musician (guitar, french horn) in a past life, but I never really practiced as I should have...I figured like crime music didn't pay (okay, I was kind of lazy too). I still play guitar for my own enjoyment.

As far as dress, I'm pretty uncool. I tend to eschew fashion and trends...preferring whatever casual dress suits my fancy (often jeans, t-shirt, sandals). I've been wanting to pick up a Utilikilt for some time but have yet to fork out the cash.

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit

I'm a Lead Software Engineer for a company in San Antonio. I'm also active in software communities in both San Antonio and Austin. I'm usually quite busy at work and I usually spend my free time either doing stuff with my kids, engaging in conversation or dining with friends, studying in my field, reading, or playing computer/video games (love rock band, but gaming is at the bottom of my priority list at the moment).

I'm really good at embracing uniqueness in others, exploring new ideas, challenging/refining my own understanding, providing stimulating conversation, and working outside of my comfort zone.

Favorite Music: The Pixies, The Smiths, Cake, The Cure, Led Zeppelin, Manu Chau, Guster, Beck, Drive-by Truckers, Dead Kennedys, Thin Lizzy, MC Frontalot, Beefy, Hieroglyphics, Flight of the Concords, Nickle Creek, The Dead Milkmen, Pedro the Lion, Radiohead, Johnny Cash (especially that Hurt video, damn that was good!), The Judy's (not Judybats), The Clancy Brothers, Verdi, Beethoven, Vaughn Williams...there's little music that I don't like, my favorite genre seems to shift like the desert winds. Currently...Nerdcore for life!

Favorite Food: Swiss Fondue (with a good Gruyere and a discernible amount of kirschwasser), marzipan, baklawa (with sufficient rose water and cardamom), coffee...

Lately, at work...not cool. When I can I like to get together with a few friends to just hang out or for beer, coffee, or a game or two of pool (which I am terrible at).

I used to feel very anxious regarding how others perceived me and how they might judge the traits that define my uniqueness. I wore a mask to better conform to expectations set by popular culture. It was simply awful.
