My self-summary
It is always difficult to describe oneself - Who am I -sounds a bit existential but I will attempt to explain a few things that help to define who I am ….well educated, financially stable …..traveled to many places in the world (many more places left to explore and it would be fun to do so with a partner who shares this interest). Generally I am happy with my life but at times find myself restless for new adventures and certainly new friendships. Interacting with family and friends is a key to a balanced life. Giving back in some way through volunteering is important to me. I am seeking a partner who is able to appreciate being together as well as time alone – someone who seeks to learn new things and to who values communication as the core of a relationship.

I grew up on the east coast in Pittsburgh (GO STEELERS!) and have lived half my life on each coast but find I prefer the west as it is a bit more relaxed and people tend to have a better balance between work and leisure. But I do love to visit NYC as I am city person at heart. Currently living in the "burbs" but wanting to move into Portland. So far have not found the right location but will keep looking.....

When not working as a PA in clinic or teaching on-line, I enjoy theater, hiking (not in the rain!), x-country skiing (not very skilled!), exploring the Northwest (finally made it to the Eastern OR this past summer!), reading/IPAD stuff (too many apps!!!) , trying to get back into shape. I must admit ROKU/Netflix streaming videos can be additive and then there is the food network with the chef shows (great ways to waste time at the end of a long day at the office! - mindless entertainment)

My favorite quote is - A Journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step - and that is how a friendship begins - How about taking a journey with me?
What I’m doing with my life
trying to survive working in primary care while planning for my next adventure..... traveled to Papua New Guinea in Sept 2012 - amazing journey. Completed two volunteer clinical trips this past year that reminded me why I went into medicine in the first place - time to talk with patients and teach students - something that no longer seems to exist in US healthcare. I am beginning to get more serious about planning for retirement - time to volunteer, take classes and work when I want rather than because I must.
I’m really good at
seems a bit egotistical to make a list! But I do host fun parties and travel adventures.
The first things people usually notice about me
the eyes are the window to the soul
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Movies - all time favorite movie - Wizard of Oz
Books - travel, historical fiction, life adventure stories by women
Food - anything ethnic and trying new restuarants/food carts
The six things I could never do without
Friends
Family (most of the time)
Helping raise my 4 nieces
Travel to new destinations
Life long learning
Enjoying the outdoors (especially when there is SUN!)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Retiring (but it seems to get further aways all the time....)
Planning my next travel adventure
On a typical Friday night I am
Relaxing after what is usually a long week of work
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
if we get to know each other - I will tell you!
But I do sleep in socks!
