I am Tall, Handsome, and do dishes!.
My Self-Summary
How do you put in all in words? Well - here goes.. i'm a half
American / half British guy. I've still got the accent, and use
words like "sorted", "central reservation" and "dodgy"
(Translations available over wine). Some say the accent is an asset
- but until now it has only proven highly useful at Wendy's drive
in window in confusing the daylights out of them when saying no
"Tom-ah-toes"! The quantity of scarred fast food workers i've left
in my wake - it's really awful..
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a believer that you should live your life - go out and
experience new things, see the world. So, i'm doing that - I travel
to several places a year to get away from the vehicular and
bureaucratic carnage of the DC area. Recent destinations have
included Tokyo, Bangkok, Frankfurt, Zurich, Munich, London and
Barcelona. This year's potential trips are in Scandinavia, Thai
Islands, Greece, and Central America. I've been to some nasty
places - more on that later. Your years up to 50 are the time to
see and do - expending boundless energy to explore - people,
places, food, culture. When the end is near, wouldn't you rather
look back on all the adventures fondly? (ok, well not JFK or CDG
airport!)
I’m really good at
Cooking. Creme brullee? Yup, got a welders torch for those. Fresh
salsa? Caliente! How about pad thai or green chicken curry? I went
to cooking school in Bangkok Thailand, twice! Cupcakes? No problem
- just keep my co-workers away (vultures)! Homemade tomato soup and
a grilled cheese on a cold night..one batch coming right up. Can
you sense I'm a foodie?
The first things people usually notice about me
Well, i'm pretty tall - clocking in at 6'4", and I have nice blue
eyes. Did i mention the funny accent?
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Well i'm pretty accepting here.. I like Classical, Jazz, Rock, Pop.
Not really into Hip Hop, Metal or other incoherent rackets which
sound like people banging pots and pans together. Movies - same
deal. Like the occasional James Bond flick, but can watch "thinky"
movies too. Food? Pretty much anything tasty and normal: chinese,
sushi, thai, mexican, french, steak, german - you name it (sorry
ladies, not into snails - Escargot - or frogs)!
The six things I could never do without
Are we still listing? Ok here goes:
Comfy bed
Well cooked, seasoned and presented food
Wine
Fast German Cars
Exercise
Travel
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Where I want to settle down and raise a couple of golden labs.
Pretty simple really - we all need to pick a place to settle down..
and part of my world tours include scouting future sites. You
didn't think I was going to retire in Northern Virginia did you??
Or aimlessly travelling the world without an secret/hidden agenda..
On a typical Friday night I am
Watching a movie at home or cooking. Being a suburbanite, and not
in DC or Arlington - there is little social life out here amongst
the minivans, married folk and golden retreivers. So improvisation
is called for.. and damn well almost mandatory these days. I've
grown tired of bar scenes/bars: too noisy, smoky, meat markety and
let's face it - silly places to meet quality people.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I once hassled some nuns in Falls Church - it was an accident,
really! (Full story can be explained later)
You should message me if
Enjoy food, a laugh, coffee at starbucks, or a friday night blu ray
movie..
