My self-summary
I think passion is infectious. Like yawning but the opposite. I try to put as much positivity into the world as possible.

Relentlessly open-minded. Seeker, mover, malcontent.
What I’m doing with my life
In a past life I traveled the country doing community organizing for campaigns. I've lived in 9 states in the last 6 years and met some incredible people in all of them, but I won a pretty big reelection in 2012. Now I do digital PR helping people do internet stuff. There are gifs involved.

While I've been happily settled back home in Chicago for a few years, I always try to have an adventure planned. I get antsy if there's no flight booked.

Otherwise I'm on the board of a nonprofit that teaches civic engagement to young people. I love to play soccer and run weirdly long distances and otherwise overcommit to teams. I also practice yoga regularly but I promise I'm not "that guy" in your class.
I’m really good at
Giving "no" the burden of proof. Trying bizarre new foods or trying to learn some new skill like coding. I'm learning the guitar but what guy on here isn't?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: The Lorax, almost everything by Hunter S. Thompson, but especially Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, F&L on the Campaign Trail and The Kentucky Derby Is Decadent and Depraved, Tom Robbins, Catcher In The Rye, Autobiography of Malcolm X, A Confederacy of Dunces, Kitchen Confidential, The World Without Us, Born to Run, etc.
Music: This changes weekly/daily. I listen to A LOT of music but right now it's a sampling of things like CHVRCHES, Lorde, Head and the Heart, Local Natives, HAIM, St Lucia, and fine I love JT. I also listen to a lot of classic rock like the Stones and Dylan and The Band. Going to Burning Man has me a lot more into EDM lately too.
Food: Yes, please. A well-seared steak. I eat a grapefruit in a particular fashion every morning. If I was religious I'd point to cheese as proof. I make a dynamite jambalaya and I'm perfecting a mushroom and asparagus risotto. If I like you I'll make you dinner sometime. Does beer count as a food?
The six things I could never do without
1) the way strangers will make eye contact and smile at each other on a beautiful day.
2) coffee so strong it could fuel the diesel engine of a mid-sized sedan.
3) long Sunday morning runs then brunch.
4) that meditative zone in the shower between when you finish cleaning yourself and actually get out of the shower.
5) live music in the summer (especially when it compliments #1)
6) people who create beauty and challenge me to be better.

PS - if you have your iPhone in this list, you should actually probably give it a try.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How many people I depend on every day without even realizing it.

But also how to get a job writing popsicle stick jokes.

You aren't afraid to make the first move with people you think are hot (regardless of "gender roles") and for fuck's sake please do not be ashamed of being on this site. Shame is a flimsy, externally-focused and easily-dismissed emotion. It stands no match to attraction and gets bulldozed by love.

I am attracted to women who are independent, creative and live passionately in whatever form that takes. Ability to take a compliment is a bonus. In short: be confident. You're probably at your best that way. I wanna hold your hand, but I have no interest in dragging you by it. People interested in labels might call this feminism.

Healthy amounts of wit and feistiness go a long way, too. Notorious sucker for brunettes with big eyes. If you can write and make me laugh, I'll swoon. I want the person I end up with to be smarter than me, but if you're a super-literal, left-brained person we might have trouble connecting (although you're still great at making the world run on time!).

Or if you're a burner and want to talk about that. )'(

Heads up that I have a very friendly cat, but if you're deathly allergic that will make this hard. Fair warning.

I'm pretty serious about brunch too, so that's just a thing you'll have to deal with. Sorry I'm not sorry.
