My self-summary
Grounded but a little left of center. Lover of art in all of it's manifestations: music, film, comics, nature, great conversation, hilarity, and a buzz to go along with all of it. A cheese plate never hurts.

Obsessed with the magical and elusive NYC experiences and adventures that cannot be chased but rather present themselves when you least expect them.

I spend too much sweet moolah on the myriad concerts for which NYC is known, and I make a killer mixtape. Play your cards right and you may get one...

Skilled vegetarian free-style cook. If given the opportunity, I will seduce you with my cooking, if not my creative baking.

What I’m doing with my life
Busting my ass to live and survive in NYC and discover its secrets. Trying to take advantage of the live music & art here, drink good wine & scotch, and create as many amazing connections I can. Looking to find someone who can appreciate all this with me and more.
I’m really good at
High-5ing. I give a solid high-5 every single time. None of that awkward half-miss business.

I'm also really good at finding awesome things to do to maximize life in NYC (that aren't necessarily publicized) in terms of music, art, food, drinks etc. I tend to be lucky in winning stuff.
The first things people usually notice about me
I recently asked a couple of friends (awkwardly explaining that it's for the purpose of completing this section of my profile) and they said my smile. So there you go.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books- Voracious reader. All-time faves include Robbins, Vonnegut, Atwood, Sedaris. Geek Love by Katherine Dunn was an incredible mind-blower. Currently reading Junot Diaz. Also have an obsession with comics/graphic novels. Alison Bechdel, Alex Robinson & Craig Thompson are a few faves.

Film- Anything visually stunning, super stylized, complex, clever, with great dialogue. I like stuff that's super-weird. Or anything that involves sectionals/regionals/nationals or a dance-off. Come to the movies with me, and I'll show you how a double-header is done properly.

TV - Freaks & Geeks, Arrested Development, Twin Peaks, LOST, HIMYM, New Girl. I'll give anything a chance as long as it's well-written and well-acted. Or if it's just hilarious. But I refuse to watch Hoarders or Real Housewives, it gives me a sad. :(

Music - I'm constantly absorbing new stuff. All time faves include Beck, Radiohead, Pavement, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Holly Golightly. Like everyone else, I feel that there are too many to list. I often re-visit oldies. I save my ticket stubs, try to get the setlist at the end of a show, and I've been tracking all concerts I go to on a spreadsheet for years. Want to be my concert bud?

Food- I have a diverse palate in terms of cuisine. I have a CSA share, and I get tons of awesome normal stuff and a bit of really weird stuff like garlic scapes, kholrabi, cardoons. I enjoy looking up and cooking up new recipes.
The six things I could never do without
Friends

Cats
Conversation
Wine and scotch

I could do without the term 'foodie.'
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Dream analysis.

And how exactly one goes about making a citizen's arrest. Do you just say, 'Halt! I citizen's arrest you!' And expect the person to acquiesce?
On a typical Friday night I am
Depends on how active my week has been and what happens to be going on that night. Sometimes it's nice to just spend a Friday night in.

Frequently checking out exhibits at the Whitney or MOMA. I'm a member of both. I keep an active spreadsheet of current exhibitions of all museums in NYC too.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am a spectacle to behold whilst eating corn on the cob.

You should message me if
You are literate and literary. You are intelligent and street-smart. You enjoy music, know a lot about it, and you can provide the perfect recommendation for the next band I should check out.

You are proud of your character. You are kind, hilarious, quirky, generous, and ambitious (without losing sight of life's smaller treasures). You are introspective and self-aware. You follow through with promises you make.

You are aggressively affectionate. You are sophisticated with a silly side, a touch of snobbery is OK. You have fun ideas and want to take advantage of NYC.

You can teach me something awesome, like how to count cards while gambling!

You do not wear sports jerseys as fashion.

You want to check out Sleep No More or try Dirt Candy with me! What ideas have you got?
