My self-summary
East coast vagabonding for the moment...say hi, I'll be back in August!

I was living in Brooklyn teaching about Westward Expansion and thought, "Why not me?" So a year ago, I set out for California in search of gold, but not the kind that you'd think. Rather: sunshine, friends new and old, delicious veggies, sights, etc. It's been splendid.

I've done this thing before--I lived in Italy for quite a stretch, and stayed long enough to perfect my Sicilian accent, know the ins and outs of the Vatican's sculpture hall and make a mean eggplant parm. But wanderlust is not forever; I'd like to meet a like minded soul to bike, climb, stargaze, meander, converse, cook, and adventure with.
What I’m doing with my life
teaching, remembering recipes from foreign lands, speaking other languages, listening to music and stories, keeping good company, living in the moment. looking for more time for painting and silver smithing, but time is elusive!

making up for it by making a little bit of useful/consumable art each day...could be as simple as a frothy cup of morning coffee or a rich line of text on that backlight display.
The first things people usually notice about me
freckles, raspy voice, smile, joie de vivre
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Black Uhuru, Fleet Foxes/Father John Misty, Wu Tang, Beach House, M. Ward, Jolie Holland, Gillian Welch, Will Oldham, Neil Young, Devendra Banhart, Otis Redding, Daughter, Andrew Bird, Cuban trios, Delta blues... And I want to dance to dancehall. Always.

"Brazil" by John Updike, Cortázar, Noam Chomsky, Isabel Allende, Anne Sexton, etc. I like reading books that are set in the place that I'm in, like "Walden" when I'm near a pond in Massachusetts or "The Odyssey" when I'm in Sicily. Any suggestions for Bay Area reads?
The six things I could never do without
the lake in my hometown,
conversation,
rooftops,
truffle salt,
summer bonfires,
the sky
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Tina Turner has seen me naked. I know...what?!
