I am enthusiastic, witty, and bright.
My Self-Summary
Some might say...do say...have said (!)...that I'm a fun person to
be around, but don't take their word for it!
I was born and raised in Ireland but have lived in Chicago for the
past 14 years. This is a city I have really grown to love and I'm
glad I live here.
I don't have any immediate family around so I've been fortunate
enough to make many friends from many different areas of my life
and they have become my family. I'm a member of a
Theatre company in Oak Park where I
have served as Stage Manager, Prop Designer and on occasion,
actor/singer.
It may come a surprise but I quite like a drink every now and then!
;-)
I love a
beer (or 3)
or a
whiskey or a
cocktail, I'm not a BIG wine-lover but I'm learning. Like everyone,
I used the hit the bars a lot more a few years ago, but now....well
let's just say I pick my moments!
What I’m doing with my life
I work in IT as a Software Quality Analyst although the economy
caught up with me earlier this year and I was unemployed for 5
months. Thankfully I'm back working now and I'm VERY lucky because
I REALLY like where I work and who I work with.
I definitely work to live rather than live to work. I can easily
leave work behind when I'm not at the office because I have lots of
other things to do!
I try to
travel as
much as I can and in the last few years I've taken trips to
Australia, India and Egypt. Australia was great and I've been twice
but there is SO much more to see. India was HOT and intense but it
was really good to see, especially the Taj Mahal! Egypt was
probably the MOST surprisingly good trip I've ever taken and I
would go back to see more. It was really fun and I got to do
magical things like take a balloon ride over the Valley of the
Kings at dawn.
The first things people usually notice about me
Oh that's easy, my Irish accent. Even after so many years I still
get compliments on it all the time.
I'm a pretty exuberant talker too and I can sometimes unleash a
sneeze that would stun you!
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I reread books a lot and my favourite set from childhood are the
Narnia books. I'm a big Harry Potter fan also.
I also like Thrillers/Mystery books and I've also dipped into the
classics, most frequently Jane Austen - although I hesitate to
mention her for fear of appearing too much of a cliche.
I'm a BIG TV-watcher and one of the most fabulous things I got this
year was a DVR which you can pry from my cold, dead hands now! I
watch all the usual chick-stuff: Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice,
Brothers & Sisters. But I also have quite the sci-fi interest,
with Star Trek TNG and Doctor Who being a couple of my
favourites.
As for Music....well, I don't buy much music and I have not managed
to fill my iPod yet but the selection on it is pretty wide: Abba,
Amy Winehouse, Eminem, Broadway Shows, Shakira, Josh Groban, Mary
Black, Kelly Clarkson, Barenaked Ladies, Patsy Cline, Deana Carter,
Backstreet Boys, REO Speedwagon, Mozart...there's also some
Swing/Rat Pack stuff on there that I really like.
On a typical Friday night I am
Curled up on the couch, catching up on recorded TV shows, drinking
whiskey & ginger ale!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I have a hard time staying on top of all the mail I get (it's no
more than other people get, it just doesn't....stop...arriving!)
You should message me if
You like to talk and have lots to say, if you enjoy your life and
you like to find out about new people.
