My self-summary
UPDATE: I'm very happy in my current situation and am not looking to date anyone new at the moment, but I'm keeping my profile up as reference to knitty007 and to chat about my poly experiences with anyone interested in the subject.
__________________________________________

I'm a lover, not a fighter -- though I will argue in favor of the public option, gay marriage and George Lazenby without much provocation. I'm a bona fide movie fanatic who went to film school, worked in TV a little bit and still has aspirations. I'm a native Californian raised in the Midwest, a former farm boy who will never live far from the ocean again. Mostly, I'm easy-going, fun-loving and happy to be here.

I'm married to the devastating knitty007. A few years back, we decided to expand the parameters of our marriage to include the proverbial friends with benefits, with safety first, open communication and total disclosure the keys. To my surprise, I soon discovered that I'm actually a polyamorous person. It's been an occasionally scary but ultimately rewarding journey.

Just so you know, and in all modesty: I'm kind, gentlemanly and as good a friend as you're likely to make. I try to not take myself too seriously but I do take those qualities seriously, and I value kindness and friendship in return.

I am automatic, systematic, and hydramatic
What I’m doing with my life
Working at an ad agency by day, writing by night. Playing with our new kitten, who is adorable but two steps shy of a Tasmanian Devil. Daddy's arms are merely scratching posts with fingers, most useful for opening cans of wet food.
I’m really good at
...listening. (It's an underappreciated skill.) Making my friends laugh. Fore- and after-play.
The first things people usually notice about me
Eyes of blue and tallish, too.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
- Of Mice and Men is my favorite novel, I love David Sedaris and I sometimes re-read Ian Fleming for fun, but I generally read non-fiction -- lots of cinema history/criticism/bio. I devoured comic books as a kid and can see myself leaning in that direction again. I love the fact that graphic novels have been embraced as literature!

- Raiders of the Lost Ark is forever my favorite movie; it blew my mind and changed my life when I was eleven. Also: The Godfather, North by Northwest, Lawrence of Arabia, Cinema Paradiso, Goldfinger, La Femme Nikita, The Empire Strikes Back, The Untouchables, Say Anything... I look forward to anything new by Wes Anderson, the Coen Brothers, Quentin Tarantino and modern masters like Spielberg and Scorsese. And no matter their medium du jour, I worship at the altars of Joss Whedon and Aaron Sorkin.

- I listen to KROQ, KLSX and KCBS ("Jack") on your FM dial. Gimme New Wave, gimme Classic Rock. On my iPod, you'll find U2, Garbage, CSN (and sometimes Y), Heart, Depeche Mode, Cake, the Clash, Rodrigo y Gabriela, the Manhattan Transfer... I'm getting into Vampire Weekend and Cold War Kids lately. And if disco is playing at the grocery store, I will dance to it. You've been warned.

- BBQ, Italian, Mexican. I love sushi when I can afford the good stuff. And I'm a total chilihead, so do your worst with that habañero. I can take it.
The six things I could never do without
- Los Angeles Dodgers (though I'm not a sports freak)

- The corner of Sepulveda and Washington Place, home of Tito's (tacos) and Johnnie's (pastrami)

- Physical contact (not just sexually speaking; I'm a hugger, foot-massager, back-rubber and hand-holder, and I need the same)

- Repertory cinema (served daily at the New Beverly, the American Cinematheque's Egyptian and Aero Theatres et al), one of the very best parts of living in L.A.

- Pepper Plant Chunky Garlic (hot sauce)

- knitty007
I spend a lot of time thinking about
...whether this whole "life begins at forty" thing is truth or crap. (It's looking good so far.)
On a typical Friday night I am
...at the movies or Blu-raying at home. Been going to a lot of game nights lately, too. Does that make me charmingly old-fashioned or just old?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I can't watch Winnie the Pooh movies anymore. I'm a wreck every time, because they're always about one of the gang leaving the Hundred Acre Wood for some innocent reason and all the others becoming distraught because they think that he or she is gone forever. I must have abandonment issues. (This doesn't stop me from wearing Pooh ears to Disneyland, however. So if I'm ever abandoned at Disneyland, I'm of course completely f*cked.)
I’m looking for
  • Everybody
  • Ages 18–99
  • Located anywhere
  • For new friends
You should message me if
...you have questions about polyamory -- or you simply can't think of anything better to do. We've all had nights like that.
