My self-summary Propose an edit
I love Colorado. Winter, Summer, Spring, or Fall. I also love all
the other places I've lived, but this seems to be my favorite. I'm
always looking for great new people to talk to. Especially if it
means finding new snowboarding or hiking buddies who want to share
a carpool!
Describing one's self is an interesting challenge. I certainly have
my fair share of quirks and oddities. I pride myself on my eclectic
nature. To be continued ;-).
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
Being an awesome field geologist and getting paid to be outdoors.
Being concerned enough about the environment and outdoors that I
have worked many a time for good causes and little money (although
I can't do that as much now that I own a house). So, that means, I
go play in the desert and mountains and people pay me to bring back
little bottles of water and soil, or maybe even just Descriptions
of the water and soil.
And dancing. Can't forget about the dancing.
I'm really good at Propose an edit
Well, not to brag, but I'm not a bad dancer! And since I've been
asked, it's partner dancing, like argentine tango, west coast
swing, waltz,
cha cha, two step, and salsa.
What else? I'd confess to playing board games, snowshoeing, being
silly, and painting (walls and pottery).
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
When they see me? My smile.
When they hear me? My silly laughter.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
(a)Specific Titles: The Speed of Dark, The Chronicles of Amber,
Ender's Game, The Complete Fuzzy, The Beak of the Finch, The Riddle
Master of Hed, The Wizard of EarthSea, Brave New World, Roughing
It, Escape From Kathmandu, Cryptonomicon, Anne of Green Gables, The
Little Prince
(a) Authors: Elizabeth Moon, Roger Zelazny, Orson Scott Card, H.
Beam Piper, Jonathon Weiner, Patricia McKillip, Ursula K. Le Guin,
Aldous Huxley, Mark Twain, Kim Stanley Robinson, Neal Stephenson,
L.M. Montgomery, Antoine de Sainte Exupery
(yes they correspond directly and are only examples)
(b) The Man from Snowy River, The Royal Tennanbaums, The Life
Aquatic with Steve Zissou, everything with Audrey Hepburn
particularly Wait Until Dark, Star Wars (I even own the originals
on LaserDisc!), North by Northwest, Grumpy Old Men, Cabaret, Anne
of Green Gables, Indiana Jones, Inherit the Wind, To Kill a
Mockingbird, Good Morning Vietnam, Shall We Dance (the
original)
(c) Much tougher one. I listen to just about everything. If I had
to pick a favorite... Hedningarna--a Swedish/Finnish modernized
folk group. Otherwise? Billy Joel, Eagles, CCR, Chopin, Pearl Jam,
Audioslave. There, that's five. I'll stop while I'm ahead. Assume I
like everything. Especially if I can dance to it, so that includes
Country since that's all there is to do a two-step to.
(d)Even harder to nail down. I'm much too eclectic to have one or
two favorites, and even if I do for a short time, they generally
change. I guess I've always loved chocolate though, even if I can't
have most of it because of evil nuts (Actual nuts, not just crazy
people)! So, I'll stick with my favorite types. Sushi, Vietnamese,
Northern Italian, French-particularly northwestern fare, Fondue...
I also love experimental cooking and enjoy being able to cook fish
to perfection (at least for most people). And anything off the
grill. I Am from Minnesota after all, and nothing could ever
replace a good beer brat with saurkraut and mustard. Is wine a
food? :-)

My friends, since they're so scattered and distant from me these
days.
How to make enough money to do the work that I want to do.
(Volunteerism is not generally a good career move. Subsistence is
hard to maintain, and I wouldn't get to keep my cat.)

Hopefully I'm dancing or out doing something else fun. Or, perhaps
I'm still out in the field!
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
