Years ago I made a Faustian bargain in which I got super math
skills, encyclopedic knowledge of the Simpsons, the ability to tell
a pun in any situation (seriously, I can pretty much tell them on
cue--and R, S, and T too) and various other nerdy traits.
Unfortunately, I gave up the ability to have non-awkward social
I like talking about history, mythology, math, science,
science-fiction, superheroes, speculative theories about things
going on between the lines in popular (or at least popular to
nerds) stories (including ASOIAF, Portal, Zelda, and Breaking Bad).
I like playing board games, video games, and pinball. I also will
nerd-out about good beer and football (there's so much game theory
and statistical information in the game; the baseball sabermetrics
people should come to the concussive side--we have something I
What I’m doing with my life
I went to a phd program straight out of college. That was a
mistake. After two years I left, moved to a new city (this one),
and got a masters degree in a useful skill. I now work for a pretty
large tech company, and it's great. The real world is so much
better than school; I get to leave work at the end of the day.
I’m really good at
math; physics; snarking; telling puns; grilling; tasting beer;
pinball; quoting and referencing The Simpsons, Futurama, and The
West Wing; intellectual discussions, debates, and arguments;
fencing; lifting heavy stuff that one who looked at me would think
me incapable of lifting; correctly knowing how to use commas and
semicolons in creating lists.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'd like to say the puns. However, it's likely my height (or rather
my lack there of).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Book: ASOIAF by GRRM. Other favorites include: American Gods, World
War Z, Discworld, The Guide.
Movies: Princess Bride is the only one that stands out.
Shows: Daily Show, Colbert Report, Simpsons, anything by Sorkin,
anything by Whedon. The other series I currently watch include Game
of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Supernatural, and Legend of Korra.
Food: There are four food groups: grilled, fried, alcoholic,
carbonated. The rest is merely calorie containing garnish.
The six things I could never do without
People smarter than me in my life.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Many things. Some that come to mind right now are: Group Theory,
Early Modern Metaphysics and Epistemology, numbers, how most people
are functionally innumerate, possible universes and the meaning of
that phrase, grammar, politics, the meanings of colors in Breaking
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with friends, maybe going barhopping and exploring good
beers, perhaps at a comedy or improv show.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am absurdly kinky. I am a sub-leaning switch, and have been told
I have a high pain tolerance. If you are on fetlife and OKC, and
want to know more specific, send me a message here and I'll tell
you my handle on there.
You should message me if
the other stuff in my profile makes you want to message me,
especially if you are a nerdy girl who loves to cuddle while
marathoning awesome tv shows or cartoons.
