I'm a total movie fiend and narrowing it down to a handful is
difficult. I have favorites for sentimental purposes and favorites
just because they rock. There are movies and there are films - I
A lot of the books that I've read lately are related to work, but
outside of that, a few that really stand out are: The Bird Man and
the Lap Dancer, The Robot and the Bluebird, The Book of Vice, The
Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, The Road, and The Devil's Teeth.
I now realize that I need to venture beyond books that start with
the word "the."
. In my
opinion, they are the result of tens of thousands of years of
culinary evolution. I'll eat almost anything and enjoy a range of
tastes. I wish I was better at preparing vegetables because I enjoy
eating them and realize their benefits, but when I cook them, they
usually turn into some stewish concoction.
Musically, my only must is that I be able to listen to Lyle Lovett
occasionally. There are the classics like Sam Cooke and Woody
Guthrie, but the other stuff I tend to listen to is a variety of
genres blended together like what Paul Simon has done or Norah
Jones, Nellie McKay and Ben Harper are currently doing. The Be Good
Tanyas, Ryan Adams, Rufus Wainwright, and Jack Johnson are in heavy
rotation on the drive to work. Just recently, I've discovered Josh
Ritter, Knaan and Noah and the Whale, but I'm not sure if they're
going to be staples or not.
This is kind of my way of adding random crap, but every week I get
podcasts of Wait, Wait, Don't
and This American Life. I also own all episodes of
and will go to it when I need a laugh.
