I am bright, witty, and interesting.

My Self-Summary

I was born in Michigan and have lived all around the USA, but I have now chosen to settle in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. My interests are varied: I read a lot, especially 20th century history, math and science, as well as English and American literature.

I’m really good at

math and creating software. I also like to cook and build things; I only wish there was an Ikea here in PR, I can assemble any of their furniture you could think of.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Serious historical works, anything to do with math or physics, science fiction. Robert Heinlein is my favorite author, closely followed by Arthur C. Clarke. I also like reading the classics, as well as contemporary American and British writers.

Movies: There hasn't been much in the theaters that I have liked.

Music: Mostly, I listen to Rock (mostly progressive, but I also like punk and mainstream classic), Classical (especially Baroque), Jazz and experimental music. I don't follow most of the popular music being put out now, and it has been about 15-20 years since I have picked up a copy of Rolling Stone.

Food: Italian, Chinese and Indian are my favorites.

The six things I could never do without

  1. A connection to the Internet. One time, the DSL that I get through the phone company died, and I had to go to Starbuck's with a notebook in order to go online. The outage lasted a week, and it was completely their fault.

  2. Books. I love to read, and I enjoy most any topic, as long as it is serious and interesting. So, I will not read celebrity biographies, because I don't really care about their problems and they are uniformly boring. But I do enjoy history, math and science, and economics, especially when they are written in a scholarly manner.

  3. My cats. I like animals, especially cats. The two that I have can be annoying but also interesting. Just like people.

  4. Good food. It has been years since I set foot in a fast food place. It's just that most of the food they serve there is really nasty. I cook for myself on most nights and I try to use the best ingredients that I can find. For instance, I grow my own mint so that I can make mojitos.

That's all I can think of for right now. I will come back later and add another two.
