I am jovial, subversive, and inquisitive.

My Self-Summary

I am an idealistic realist, with a propensity for being a bit of a geek - but in an interesting way, obviously.

What I’m doing with my life

It feels like I'm spending too long labouring over the best way to define myself in this profile. Otherwise, mostly, I am plying my trade as a pharmacist in the Pharma industry, indulging in my latest audiocrush (currently Over the Under by Down), working on making some original photos for my website, commuting for a ludicrous number of hours a day (and wishing I could stay awake long enough to read more), trying to rekindle some musical prowess from my youth by learning to play bass, dancing, learning to snowboard, running faster, cake baking, wishing I had a drum kit so I could practice every day.

I’m really good at

laughing at things that are plain wrong, drinking rum with ginger beer, collecting and losing hats, making tiramisu, getting library book fines, measuring methadone, skipping onto the next song before the current one is finished (much to the annoyance of my friends..."but there are too many songs!"), getting a second wind (metaphorical).

The first things people usually notice about me

...that I've got a good tan, for a Gloucester girl.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: The Wind Up Bird Chronicles & Kafka By The Shore by Haruki Murakami. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Animal Farm by Orwell. Currently enjoying (i think) The Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk.

Film: all things quirky, schlocky, darkly funny or Lynchian. My favourite film, once it it made will contain all of the above nuances. For now... OldBoy, Survive Style 5+, Battle Royale, Edward Scissorhands, El Orfanato, Mulholland Drive, Happy Gilmore, Evil Dead, Drag Me To Hell, Donnie Darko, Chopper, Science of Sleep, The Princess Bride, The Goonies, Laura, Delicatessen, Old School, Blue Velvet.

Music: I crave new musical experiences all the time, and could spend my entire life pondering/listening/playing music. I don't have much patience with mainstream music, unless it contains something genuinely original. My typical top 50 most played tracks on my ipod will include...
Pantera, Mr Bungle, Queens of the Stone Age, Dillinger Escape Plan, Clutch, Down, Mastodon, Cat Empire, Bjork, Incubus, Tomahawk, Melvins, Faith no more, Battles, Kyuss, Dirty Projectors, Shudder to think, Metallica, Machine head, Sufjan Stevens, Sons of Merrick, Zu, the exploits of Mike Patton.

Telly: Arrested Development, League of Gentlemen, Snuff Box, Partridge, Adam & Joe, Batfink, Brass Eye, The Crystal Maze, Flight of the Conchords, Nathan Barley.

The six things I could never do without

sunlight, the use of my ears, a fridge, pilates, internet, books.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

why humans drink milk (it's really abnormal when you think about it), the neuroscience of music, why there are more people in the box than out of it, what to have for dinner.

On a typical Friday night I am

She-ra, Princess of Power

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I have danced on stage with Coolio at my graduation. Wasn't very private, but its an embarrassing/momentous claim in any case.

You should message me if

Mike Patton is your secret mancrush.
