I am geeky, unusual, and strange.

My Self-Summary

I'm a single mother raising my daughter and nephew. I'm a big old sci-fi fan, who is really into Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis and Firefly. I'm also a pretty big Edmonton Oilers fan to boot. In the off-season, I watch the Blue Jays. (So in other words, I'm heart-broken 12 months of the year. lol) I'm really geeky and into computers. (I'm not trying to be self-deprecating. I really love being geeky and take great pride in it.)

Currently, I'm a distance IT instructor that teaches an IT and basics of networking course to youth across Alberta and Saskatchewan who live in their First Nations communities.

Of all the time I've been on this site, I still can't decide if I want to take it seriously for dating. lol I've been single so long (no other reason than hanging with the kids is better than going out and partying), so I'm not sure if I want to go there. But the quizzes are fun! :D

What I’m doing with my life

I'm currently just doing my best to take care of my kids and get my A+ certification. I'm not really ambitious enough to get all my certs. :P

I have previously worked as a computer technician and want to continue that. Currently, though, I am an IT instructor, helping others learn more about computers and eventually become certified technicians.

I’m really good at

taking care of my kids, computers, graphics and writing

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm told I have a really nice smile, but I think it's ... I don't know. Big. :P I guess my sense of humour is one. And just how truly geeky a girl can get is another one.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

(A) Pride & Prejudice, The Stand, Medicine River (B) Lord of the Rings, While You Were Sleeping, Stargate, Fifth Element, Princess Bride, X-Men, Superman Returns, Spider-man (C) Van Morrison, The Killers, The Eagles, Derek Miller (D) sushi, catonese food, thai food and italian food!

I'm adding a tv category here because I watch a lot of it. I probably shouldn't, it's a bad example for the kids, but it's all soooooooo gooooooooood ... Battlestar Galactica, Stargate Atlantis, Stargate SG-1, The Dead Zone, Firefly, Flashpoint, The Border, CSI, Lie to Me, Heroes, The Listener, Dead Like Me, Boston Legal ... There's probably more, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head. And yes, a lot of them are off the air, but that's what DVDs are for! Yay for boxsets and long weekends in the dead of SK winters! :D

The six things I could never do without

my kids, computers, my sisters, my friends, my dogs, internet

I spend a lot of time thinking about

my kids, Stargate, writing, work

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about writing. I used to write a lot. Nothing major or even very good, but I did write it. I have found that I barely write at all these days. Which makes me sad.

So, I have decided that, for the first time, I am going to make New Year's Resolutions and writing more is one of them. :)

(EDIT: yeah, that didn't go over too well. lol)

On a typical Friday night I am

watching tv and making a big dinner for the kids.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

nothing much

You should message me if

you like talking sci-fi and computers and sometimes weird/random stuff and don't mind hearing about kids occasionally
