My self-summary
Rugged, adventuring lumberjack.

I'm a handy fellow who is good at fixing things and talking to people. I love to travel and to try new foods. I'm a dog lover, and learning to appreciate cats.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm starting a beard business. More as a hobby/fun project than anything serious but it'd be cool if it took off.

I'm training to run a mile in five minutes, as part of my year goal, to hold my breath for as long as it takes me to run a mile. It seemed reasonable to focus first on running faster.
I’m really good at
I frequently strike up conversations with random strangers. I've met a lot of interesting people that way.
The first things people usually notice about me
A lot of people have asked me about my accent if they meet me after I've had a few drinks.

Obviously people mention the beard. I've been told it smells like Christmas.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I read sci-fi and fantasy quite a bit. Favorite here is "The Name of the Wind" which is basically Harry Potter for adults.

I like a ton of movies. One of my favorites is Lost in Translation. I cannot adequately describe how it makes me feel. But I get it. Another of my favorites, especially in winter, is Love Actually. Such a fucking great movie. Don't get me wrong though, I love dude movies too: Troy, The Dark Knight, Gladiator, etc... but for different reasons.

I don't watch TV but I do love some good TV shows. Breaking Bad is probably my favorite of all time. I won't watch it again though. Just once. I'm excited for the next Game of Thrones to come out and I'm plowing through the books now. Some past favorites: Rome, The Tudors, the X-Men animated series.

I have a wide and varied taste in music. I present to you a smattering of artists I've enjoyed recently: The Horror, Dead Man's Bones, Cassettes Won't Listen, Matt Costa, Bag Raiders (Sunlight, what a great song), Bronze Radio Return, Kazinsky, CHVRCHES, The Whitest Boy Alive (and no, that's not me), St. Lucia, Future Islands (Love this band!), The Donkeys (Lower the Heaven's, possibly my favorite song ever)

Food. Maybe my favorite of all these subjects. I like savory, tangy, spicy food. Grub with lime and cilantro and chili. I slurp oysters. Always willing and ready to try something new.

And I'm a whisky man. Beer, scotch and Manhattan's. I'll drink wine with you at dinner, but only as a courtesy.
The six things I could never do without
A pocketknife. I've been carrying one since I was about six and I'll be damned if it isn't the most frustrating thing in the world to have something you want opened and not have your pocketknife with you.

Everything else is just gravy.

But a challenge is important. I'm not the kind of person to work a job where you sit and wait around all day. Give me a big problem, or a hard challenge and that'll make me happy.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Truth. Beauty. Goodness.

I just went on a road trip with one of my best friends and he's got this framework to describe people as some combination of the above. Now I find myself lumping people into those categories and it's been enlightening to realize that people act a certain way because they are stronger in one category or another.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I was one of Jehovah's Witnesses until about 3 years ago. That's not really private, I suppose, but it does tend to pop up on first dates. Feel free to ask about that (or anything else). I'm not a very private person.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 22–33
  • Near me
  • For short-term dating
You should message me if
You have at least one bad habit
You like having your hair pulled (a little) (or a lot)
You look good in a dress but feel totally comfortable wearing jeans and a flannel on a first date
You've had a "drop the mic" moment and went to tell me about it
You want to suggest an audacious first date that's totally inappropriate for a first date
