My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm currently a "professor" at Notre Dame, where I help run a field station located on the border between Wisconsin and Michigan. I just got out of a serious relationship, so I'm not necessarily looking for anything really serious. I'd just like to meet someone fun to spend time with, and we'll see where it goes from there.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
My work takes up most of my time, and incorporates two major aspects: teaching and research. My research involves studies of wild mouse ecology and behavior. I'd be happy to expound on this if you're interested. I also teach at Notre Dame, most importantly a course on Mammalogy, the study of mammals. If you don't know what a mammal is you *probably* shouldn't ask. During the summer, I help teach a course on Field Ecology on the UP. Otherwise, I like to spend my time trying new beers, taking in a live show, or seeing a good movie.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making mixed CDs. And putting non-random words together in a certain order to convey thoughts and ideas.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Deep caring eyes. No! Crooked smile. Wait! Facial hair. I'm not sure, why don't you let me know?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Music is really important to me. I like just about everything, but favorite bands would have to be Joan Jett, David Bowie, the Clash, the Dollyrots, Girl In A Coma, and the Rolling Stones. I also enjoy going out to listen to live music, especially at the Midway Tavern.
You want the breakdown? Here it is:
Punk: Ramones, Sex Pistols, Bad Religion, Rancid, The Clash, Patti Smith, Operation Ivy, Pixies, Dead Kennedys
Ska: Mustard Plug, Hepcat, Toasters, Pietasters, Specials, Reel Big Fish, The Beat, Skatalites
Rock: Joan Jett (and the Runaways), Rolling Stones, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Bruce Springsteen (I am a Jersey boy, after all), David Bowie, Velvet Underground, Tom Waits
New Wave: The Police, Elvis Costello and the Attractions, Joe Jackson, The Pretenders, Men at Work, Talking Heads, various one-hit 80s wonders
Rockabilly: Stray Cats, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Star Devils, Rumble Club, Carl Perkins, Th' Legendary Shack-Shakers, Reverend Horton Heat
Newer Stuff: Dollyrots, Girl in a Coma, Airborne Toxic Event, The Features, Fountains of Wayne, Cate le Bon, Gorillaz, Nine Inch Nails
Movies: I enjoy a lot of different kinds of movies, depending on my mood. Five films that define my character: Repo Man, Pump Up The Volume, Dogma, The Blues Brothers, High Fidelity. I also like zombie movies, my favorites being Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland.
Other movies I like: The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, Snatch, Watchmen, Bubba Ho-Tep, Good Fellas, Tremors, SLC Punk, Treasure of the Sierra Madre, Raising Arizona
Shows: Daily Show, Colbert Report, 30 Rock, Walking Dead, Archer, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, House of Cards, Nature, Spaced, Arrested Development, Burn Notice, Constantine, Arrow, Gotham
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Beer. iPod. NPR. Music. Coffee. And beer.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What the soundtrack to my life would sound like. Walruses.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Attempting to convince hipsters to drink Mad Dog. "No, really! It's the next big thing."
Watching videos of mice running back and forth. It's as exciting as it sounds.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm pretty good at embarrassing myself and not noticing.
