I am funny, open, and a generally good guy.
My Self-Summary
Yo! I haven't written an essay yet because I don't enjoy
answering vague questions (they take way too much time...).
If you want to know more about me you will read below here,
where they have asked speciific questions/made specific statements
in an effort to get you to be more specific about yourself in a
very non-vague specific way.
Of course, if you're an intelligent person, you'll already know
me, and therefore not need any of these things to inform you as to
what i'm doing.
What I’m doing with my life
Well, I graduated from Georgia Southern University in May with a
Bachelor's Degree in Music Education, and live in Albany with my
wife, who's a reporter for the Albany Herald. I am not teaching a
band of my own, but I have done a couple master classes and play
with the community band. I'm hoping to be able to get some regular
gigs, because really I love playing my trombone. If you know of
anyone who needs a trombone player, please let me know!
I'm also in the process of writing a database program that I'm
hoping to sell to bands across the state. I've been working pretty
hard on it, and am nearing completion, or atleast the point where
I'll give it to a select few to test it out, make sure it
works.
Other than what's already been mentioned, I find that a good deal
of my time is spent doing productive activities in an ultimately
unproductive environment. Namely, play video games. I also tend to
watch a lot of movies, read books, or just sit and stare at the
wall for a couple hours. Nothing better to do; it's not like I have
a job or anything...if you know of a job opening, be sure to let me
know about that too!
I’m really good at
playing trombone, making people laugh, working with my hands,
figuring out simple solutions to seemingly complex problems...I'm
actually halfway decent at just about everything I try, so this
could go on for a while. Suffice it to say that I'm good at a lot
of stuff, not the least of which is making my wife happy.
The first things people usually notice about me
I've got a bit of a weight problem. I'm about 100 pounds over my
"ideal" weight, and I'm a horrible fat person for saying this, but
the "ideal" weight is really the "healthy" weight in most
situations and at least I'm intelligent and clear-headed to
recognize the fact. I really want to get buff, but you know...those
hot pockets really are delicious, and I seem to lack the proper
motivation to maintain a proper exercise regimen.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I like most books by Stephen King, Michael Crichton, Ray Bradbury,
Robert A. Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, etc. Horror/Sci-Fi really does it
for me. Especially when they incorporate real science with the
story, if I can be entertained and learn something at the same time
I consider it a worthwhile endeavor.
b. I like a lot of movies, but my current favorites are Sweeney
Todd, 300, The Doors, Predator, Judge Dredd, and The Never-Ending
Story.
c. I have a rather eclectic taste in music, as most people
claim...when people say they listen to everything they really mean
"ah, just put it on Top 40" from any decade or year. My favorite
bands/artists vary from Oingo Boingo to Cradle of Filth, from
Mozart to Metallica, from Weird Al to Slipknot. I generally listen
to Metal, and that comprises the majority of my music collection,
but my playlists will very likely play a song called "Symphony No.
40", move on to "Mr. Frump in the Iron Lung" and then go to a
bluegrass cover of a heavy metal song.
My favorite food is lasagna. I will also accept anything else
Italian or Mexican, and General Tso's chicken is always honored.
And hot dogs. I live for hot dogs. And corn dogs. And bratwurst.
Really any type of food with a humorously phallic shape...the
combination of my two favorite things, laughing and eating!
Since TV wasn't mentioned, I'll put it on here myself. I don't have
cable, so I don't watch TV. I do, however, have an extensive
collection of TV on DVD, so I'll just mention a couple shows. The
Office, South Park, "Yes, Dear" (one of the greatest shows ever!),
The Drew Carey Show, Will and Grace, House, and almost anything on
Adult Swim.
The six things I could never do without
1. My wife
2. My cat duncan (never really thought of myself as much of a cat
person, I always like dogs better but this cat really rocks!)
3. My Playstation 3 (I don't even really have a lot of games for it
but it functions as the ultimate entertainment center)
4. My books
5. My impecable spelling (see, that's a joke; "impeccable" means
perfect and I misspelled it!)
6. My family and friends (neither of which is in Albany, and I'm
miserable!)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
random stuff. It's quite the mad house in my head. As I have
explained on numerous occasions, most people have a one-track mind.
They get on it and manage to stay there, or atleast close to it. My
train of thought has missed the track entirely and is out in a
field somewhere gathering buttercups. This can provide for some
great non-sequiters, and I often think about things that are
separated from the current topic by 6 degrees or more and keep
track of all of them. This means that what may seem utterly random
is in fact somewhat relevant, and that my associative memory is
unparalleled. It's not so great for debating verbally, though,
because by the time I've said something I'm thinking about the
fourth or fifth thing after it and my mouth gets confused. My mom
used to say that my mind is too fast for my mouth to keep up. It
doesn't help that I have an occasional stuttering problem.
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually watching a movie at home with Jennifer. Sometimes we go
out, but that's a little expensive. Maybe when I find work we'll be
able to do it more often. Right now we just gotta work on those
bills.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I had a twin who died before we were born...it was quite a shock to
my parents when my mother was still pregnant after she miscarried.
You should message me if
You're interested in hanging out, making a good friend, or just
want a random person to talk to.
